Time he gets a dose of reality. Idc if thrown under the bus but somebody has to do it. The coddling has to end fans are not stupid. - Nighthawk
What coddling though? His ice time is reduced. He's isnt given a top spot 5 on 5. His role on the PP has been reduced from trigger man to Kitchen Catcher trash bag. It's clear he has to play his way back and it's not just going to be gifted to him. He's not being coddled...

Still don't think Bo is a great captain. I thought Petey was going to be the leader , but IMO I don't think either is the real team leader. - VANTEL
Depends on what you want in a captain. Who & why did you want? |

I think it's all psychological with Petey... but no way to know for sure.
It's torture. - boonerbuck
If that’s the case then he is fragile & should tell himself that. I’m no fan of the weak minded who get 7m. |

The press box. Give his spot to somebody hungrier that isn’t playing cuz of a big contract. Lockwood? |

Frustrating.
For once I would like to see most players do what they are expected to do for a full two months.

Miller might be the closest to a team leader but I don't want to imply he is my front runner. The team leader may not even be a Canuck yet . I am waiting to see what type of players the new Mgmt bring in and who they ship out.

I don’t buy it for 1 moment Petey is playing through injury. He isn’t playing good enough to even be on a min contract. I’m harsh cuz he isn't even a shell of his old self & I see no signs in his game he has figured anything out.
Again somebody name 1 aspect in his game he shows any level of being good at? |

Ok fair enough.
Given the current roster I’d float the C if Bo wasn’t already given the C. Miller OEL Hughes Garland all for various reasons but none are perfect choices. |

Why I walked away from so many arguments on what he was worth. Overwhelming majority were saying pay him top C money because of his comparables. Can't have a level debate with people burying you with stats and lining him up beside top 10 C's across the league.

I don't think Miller would make a great C either.... not here at least. Far too many times he's behaved like he is just here serving his sentence. Seems like a poor sport at times. He has some strong characteristics none the less...

Reasons that make a Captain…
It’s his team
Not a whiner
Extroverted
Plays with passion
Shows up every game
Kicks teammates ass & not afraid to
Isn’t self centred
Lives & dies for the jersey
Not just one but many of the above gets a vote for Captain. The more of those the better the C. |

Yeah
He still may have the best resume but who knows what his future is with the team.

Yup & why comparables are BS imo. An individual is worth what he is worth nothing else in the equation. Worth is value to a team being SUCCESS. Any weakness knocks off money & a good GM signs good value contracts. Bergeron Marchand Pastrnak? |

There is nobody else producing or driving the team other than maybe Hughes. My dark horse is Garland. Burrows was also in his day if not for Hank. |

To resign all the key pieces I’d definitely entertain offers on Petey.
Not shopping but gauging offers. Get the right pieces/assets back then pull the trigger.
The nucleus without him is good enough if known they’ll all resign.
So whom do y’all target in a trade for the Alien? |

What a shame. To think how many people marked him the best choice for captain. He doesn't have the mental fortitude for that. - boonerbuck

There wasn't really a lot . Me Nucker and DCT.
Petey back then is miles away from who he is today.

Other than scoring he had no traits worthy of being a captain. |

I think he was doing a lot of things differently , first on last off the ice back then. Going over drills over and over. More vocal and producing. He is night and day with his first two years and his last two years.
