I agree that there was a big upgrade at Coach but while Gallant has been awesome -he is not conventional and I can see he will wear thin eventually. I like our coach in waiting, #Yankee2ndbasement

Isn't that the majority of coaches? We all look fondly back on Torts, but no explanation needed on that. The names were barely minted on the cup and Keenan was out of town. Other than Bowman or Q, there really is no such thing as a long term coach in this league anymore

ultimately that's fair

I just think there was that period after Shesty arrived in Janaury 2020 until Covid hit, the Rangers were playing some of the most fun hockey in years, culminating with that Mika 5 goal game

whatever mojo they had they never got back

he does have a three game point streak since they moved him to wing, like you wanted. Was he on the right or left?

If you mean by noticible you mean 3 mistakes leading to turnovers only halfway into the game. Yea sure.
- aecliptic

Oh my god!!!! He made mistakes???????? Well, forget trading him. Let's just drag him out and shoot him!!
None of those turnovers lead to a goal, let it go.
He played on the right wing, just like you were asking for and had a good game. What does it take to stop the complaining?

I was never a fan. I always questioned whether he was the right coach at that time.

Forgot who said it but being a hockey coach is the only job we're you're hired to be fired

Yep. Quenneville is the only coach I can think of in recent memory to finish out a contract.

Left untethered, Gallant would have a team of 30 year old Gorillas...and Fox

Edit age check: Gallant reminds me of a George Allen type- Check out the "over the hill gang"

The mistakes are part of the growing. He's not all mistakes right now and he's not invisible is what I meant. He's inserting himself into the play more than just being a skater on the periphery. If you're a part of the play getting assists the mistakes are far more palatable.

That's OK. It's why in any sport, it's a bad idea to give the coach a majority control of roster decisions. Give them some input, but not total

I might be wrong, but I'm not sure he ever won a SB without a director of player personnel. I do know his recent drafts have kinda stunk. I know for awhile he didn't have an OC or DC, and he never won a SB under that arrangement either (though they got close)

It applies to ALL OF THEM. Unless of course, you have a fanbase that is centered somewhere outside of reality!!

It's what happens when you fail to get any kind of secondary talent outside the top guys. I picked up Puj in fantasy, and he's tailed off big time.

Sure does. I'm just not convinced Miller is NHL caliber now. His errors are egregious and often. Many times it's just the fundamentals of positioning. He needs to hone his fundamentals against AHL caliber talent a little longer imo.

Also... as I said

Miller isn't a part of anything but the minus column. He's not even a physical presence.

He's often playing against the teams top forwards though, of course he's going to make more mistakes as a young guy. I have to admit to some degree, I expected more, but it's not like he's been bad. He's at least as good as Skjei was and his contract is much lower
