Depending on how the Department of Player Safety decides too handle it, I can see you point as Ross could be suspended. The was late. Watching it last night, it did not seem as late but when you go to slow motion you can see it a little clearly. Greer needs to have his head up as well. He is part at fault here as well.
Players need to be accountable on both sides of the puck. I remember a few times when I was playing that the coach would say you need to keep your head or you will get hurt. - Nfdbulldawg
I think a game is fine, two is a little heavy but palatable. Anything more is ridiculous.
It's not as much the head contact as it is the fact that it's so late. That, coupled with the injury, is probably going to lead to him getting a game. He's most certainly getting a fine, at a minimum.
It wasn't criminal, just a poor decision on Ross' part and hopefully the league levies the appropriate amount of discipline...whatever that may be.
3 games seems harsh but, if you look at the video they show on NHL.com , you might change your mind. The game replay and what we saw on here don't show what i just saw on NHL.com. Good thing he didn't have a history or he would have gotten more than 3. Not saying I agree but I can now see why.

It does show he hit him in the head but I’m not agreeing with the intent by Johnston. He’s finishing a hit and I think Greer has his head up his ass and gets decked. It’s also slow motion which exaggerates the replay. Is Johnston supposed to stop his momentum and not check Greer when he’s fully engaged in the hit? That’s tough.
You can go on the internet and google un penalized head shots that are worse. There’s just no consistency and the crest on the front and the name on the back unfortunately skews the NHL’s decision on these rulings imho.
As far as the suspension I was wrong. I thought he shouldn’t even get a game.

Agreed. I can't believe that the NHL executive suite still includes the biased Colin Campbell. His long ago revealed emails make the NHL look like a joke.
The suspension comes at a particularly bad time, since I would have liked to have seen Tom Wilson on his best behavior today.

Good point. Let’s see how many head shots Wilson throws today.
Agreed. Need him today. When I first saw it during game I couldn't even believe it was penalty. Then I saw a better angle and said ok penalty. 3 games too much.

Three games is absurd. Should have been a fine. I don’t believe he’s ever been in front of the nhl before. He plays physical but not dirty. Joke.

That would be an interesting showdown. Hey - nyisles7
They played together last season on the Caps. No idea if they became friends or not, but it might impact Chara's decision whether to fight him. Johnston was the guy I wanted to tangle with Wilson if it became necessary, not Chara.

I think once your on the ice there are no friends on the other team. I remember dropping them with one of my buddies who we played against each other

Fortunately I have been able to find footage of your fight....
I know Barzal scored the winning goal but for me other than that he was barely visible in the game up to that point. He needs to be better and play smarter today.
