Hard to believe that Frost doesn’t have a multi point night with those fabulous linemates. - BiggE
Last game Frost was moved up to the wing with Laughton and TK. He had 13+TOI including PP time. He’s getting the opportunity, at some point he needs to show he belongs. It hasn’t happened yet. |

Yeo needs to go. Flyers are incompetent at developing players. - MJL
When they put a bullet in Vigneault, they should have put a bullet in all of them. Yeo was never a special case. |

No, he's not getting the opportunity that he should be getting. Frost played a total of 9 seconds at 5 on 5 with Konecny against Boston.
His time with other top players.

Gerry Mayhew 2RW is absurd
How is it Eric Staal is on an AHL tryout so he can possibly play in the Olympics yet our Flyers have no interest in signing him at any point this season?? Especially considering the lack of capable centers we have on the active roster. Staal had 19 goals (47 pts) in 19-20 for The Wild and played in the Stanley Cup final last year for Montreal. He's sound defensively and would be a HUGE upgrade for 3C or 4C. Makes no sense to me AT ALL.
Season ticket holder for >35 years (1st Level - Center Ice) and I can barely give these seats away for the Rangers Game (I thankfully found a taker last minute so they didn't go to waste). Vaccination requirement, NFL playoffs tonight, and the team stinks on ice make these $300 tickers virtually worthless. Very sad state of affairs in Flyerland right now. Ugh! |

Is Staal sound defensively? While we were beating up on Patrick last year for being a minus 30, I’m pretty sure Staal was worse in that area. |

Why would we want to sign him? Our season is done, not a chance we can make the playoffs. Unless we try to get the 13th draft pick instead of top 10. ....no thanks

What would Colorado trade to get a goalie like Hart. Thats all they need, their window is now, but they wont win with their current goaltending. Not saying trade hart, but a goalie like Hart. Could totally see them get Fleury for the run. |

Hi, Bill.
Any insight into whether or not Dave Scott is going to emerge at some point in public to offer his viewpoints in the vein of a "state of the union" address?
(1) The team is flailing on the ice. The product is boring and the Flyers are very clearly the fourth out of four teams in this city (not that I really care about the other three, however, in terms of the pulse of the city, the Flyers are irrelevant).
(2) Amongst the league power brokers, the Flyers seem relegated below many other clubs.
(3) Fan vitriol is at its zenith, either in the form of outright hostility/aggression, mocking, or, perhaps most alarming, sheer apathy (for me, I vacillate between hostility and apathy the most). I'm convinced the PR folks are sadomasochists because the comments on all forms of social media whenever they post anything are just brutal.
(4) The Flyers civil war between Clarke and Hextall in the media just makes the team look like a bunch of morons.
I honestly believe the Flyers have begun to drift towards being the laughingstock of the league in some respects. We used to be special. There used to be a chip on the shoulder of all Flyer fans. It makes me want to vomit writing this next part, but, those arguments Pens fans float about being the superior franchise...my God, could they be correct?
I miss the days when the Flyers used to matter. When it would matter to me when they'd be on, would never miss a game.
There appear to be wide swaths of the fandom that have just woken up and realized that the years of emotional sweat equity they've invested in this team are yielding next to nothing in returns at this time, or the recent past or the foreseeable future.
I would love to see a no holds barred interview with Scott conducted to see how he's going to steer us out of this quagmire. |

Do ya think it’s possible he has not earned it or just has not shown he is better than the alternative?
The guy disappears for periods of a time. Sometimes for entire games. He has had more than enough opportunity with covid and all the injuries. He could not have asked for a better opp. He just has not done anything w it.
Sucks they signed Brassard since he was supposed to be the reason why Frost was not going to see time this year..

Well said and I feel your pain. However where we disconnect is wanting to hear what Scott has to say. I don't. He may know business but when it comes to hockey, he's a dunce. He needs to go along with everyone else.

So if everything you state here is true, should a GM have been aware and recognized all of the red flags? I talked about this extensively when and after the deal was made. Nashville couldn't have gotten a better deal for a player who when healthy is a legit top pairing RH defenseman? I would call it desperation more than taking a risk. When other GM's are aware of a team that put them in the situation that the Flyers did, they're licking their chops. - MJL
Sorry, but I don’t think anyone really cares what you talked about extensively. I say that with all do respect, but we just don’t care. This is a hockey chat. Who cares what you said 4 months ago?
It you want to wax poetic about the draft picks the flyers gave up this off-season I’m all ears and will prob agree with you, but as I have talked about extensively, Patrick and Myers were not exactly blue chip assists. They took a risk on the contract. Your right, currently it’s not looking so hot. I kinda think that’s pretty obvious though. |

Well sure we can fall back on he hasn't earned it while the asset deteriorates. What's a better choice? That or to make an investment and put the player in the best possible position with the best possible support. Rather than having to find his way in the NHL playing with bottom 6 players or waiver slugs. You tell me which approach seems smart and which one seems colossally stupid? |

Doesn't matter what you think Myers and Patrick were. That is coming from me and I'm not trying to speak for anyone. It was a bad move. The team's entire approach has been incompetent. To think they were going to trade their way to prominence in one off season. They couldn't be more disconnected from reality and the modern day NHL. The entire hockey department right up to upper management is incompetent. |

My friend, I don't want to see or hear from him either, but, he's who we have, right? Unless we storm the gates of Comcast as if it were Kings Landing demanding his head, he's "the guy."
There's just something so OFF about this team. Been to hundreds of Flyers games...went to Game 6 in 2010 where we lost, but, before the game I remember as I approached the building, the closer I got, it was amazing, you could feel the electricity in the air, the pulse of the fans and the aura, it was like living and breathing charged atoms in the air. Now, the "aura" around this team is akin to going to a funeral, except, this funeral doesn't seem to be ending and they're just parading the deceased around.

You're right but their approach is they're likely going to approach it the same way they did last off season. If they move Giroux and Ristolainen at the deadline, they're going to have some cap space. They won't do the smart thing. They'll go on another shopping spree. |

Ellis isn’t even skating yet.
He should be returning any day now. This is year one. How is this contract not a disaster? - PLindbergh31
It is no more of a disaster than Hayes contract or Couturier next contract or Risto's next contract.... |

Thanks for the comments about maturity and common sense.
This is a hockey chat. It’s entirely opinion. There are no future gms here.
I’m not saying I agree with his off-season moves. I think Atkinson made sense for both team. Some trades are good for both team…
Risto gave up too much. Ghost a 2 no rounder for the contract was prob the market rate, but hay move was prob a representation of poor overall strategy by Hexy and Fletcher. Ended up being a bad contract (who would have thought). Yandle well I think we alll agree there.
Ellis - I get the move.. Prov is not the guy we all thought he was and they continue to have to find a big brother for him. I like Provy, but good lord he simply does not make people better who play with him better and he needs someone to make him better. Wtf that’s not a number 1 dman. Don’t care how many minutes he plays.
In the end I agree with you that Fletchers off-season was overkill, but remember the only reason why his hand was forced was because the defense Hexy built was below avg.
The issue is Hexy failed and Fletcher failed to compensate. Who is next. We are 0 - 2 of late
Homer was the best of the 3 |
