Congratulations to Cam York for notching his first NHL goal.
-Dubc55
I'm glad you said this because there are some good things to take away from last night's game, this being the best one. Cam York is really showing me something, he is playing against really good teams and he is doing a great job. Really a bright spot to this season and hopefully, fingers crossed, he can stay healthy and be someone we can look forward to watching grow further. Also, Lindblom is starting to play some good hockey over the past few weeks, driving hard to the next, and finally getting rewarded. TK was buzzing in this game, he just is not finishing and we need him to be a finisher. Hart had another strong game. So there are building blocks here that we can put some hope into.
Also, Jay O'Brien won the game for BU with an OT goal, he now has 12 points in 11 games so far for BU this season. He is starting to show consistently that he was worth a 1st round pick, finally. Again something to look forward to. That is what the remainder of this season is all about, looking forward to better things in the future. |

I agree. I like Clarke but he has always been this way. He makes the whole organization look bad. - iamscore2day
Me too. I love him as a player and love how much he cares. Up here in Canada hockey fans just laugh at him when he acts this way. Media love him obviously. |

Are you saying because Ellis is hurt, we should expect dysfunction throughout the entire organation from top to bottom? - MJL
Oh just STOP! You just wish for dysfunction because your so far up Hextall's keister its just sad and embarrassing. There is no dysfunction here, the team is having a down year, like they did last year, but I believe things are going to turn around here and whoever is left is going to be stronger because of it. |

to take a stab and answer joes question from last blog on how long hextalls plan wouldve taken. I would guess, he wasnt even half way done the draft and develop strategy, and had 8 first round picks. So guess he'd need another 10 1st round picks to get where we would be a contender. Its a slow process to draft and develop if you want to stay competitve and not go all in on the rebuild. The JVR and Jakes signings really set things back, being good enough to be a bubble team, but not good enough for really good picks. It was an awful strategy. Either rebuild or dont. Cant do the in between thing - bradster
Yes, the Hayes contract so far looks to be a bad one, but who knows, maybe if he can stay healthy and get stronger from the core surgery he will get his game back and be ready for the next season. I do know that players typically need about 6 months to get back to 100% from core surgery and Hayes had two of them! The same will be the case with Couts, I'm pretty sure he has a core issue also based on how he was skating before they shut him down. |

No it is a fact it is a false narrative. He gave an honest answer to a question. Nothing more nothing less. Oh well. Get over it.

I love Clarke, he is the reason I played hockey as a kid and the reason I love the Flyers. However, he should not have said that stuff about Hextall publicly, and really should have known better. It just isn't a good look for the franchise.
However, people need to stop blowing this entire thing out of context. Clarke has a title with the organization, but by his own admission, he doesn't do anything. He is no longer involved in the decisions that are made, he just comes up to Philly a few times a year, shakes some hands, takes some pictures and then goes back to Florida. He no longer represents the leadership of this team and thus what he says should be taken with a grain of salt. Hextall is the Penguins GM now, its best for the Flyers to stop looking back and start looking forward. |

Couts will come back Hayes is what he is a grossly overpaid 45 point guy. That's why Rangs and Jets wanted nothing to do with him. RAGS turned Hayes into Trouba...Brassard into Zibanejad and we have both of them. Sad |

But what else can you do regarding Hayes. They guy is signed for 4 more years after this one. You just need to hope he can recover and get back to his possession game. |

I was not in favor of getting Hayes, and certainly not committing to that kind of contract. But it should be clear that Fletcher did this for AV who clearly wanted him. It was obviously a bad decision. |

Yea, no hope in Hayes ever being that effective of a hockey player. Two core surgeries in less than a calendar year, plus his brother in the summer, I think the dude is toasted. Beyond all that, he isn't the kind of guy you can really rally around to create some kind of winning attitude. Looks uninterested most nights.
It's a symptom of the rotten core of this whole production. Just not good enough. |

I don’t think the over all idea was horrible. I do think Hextall could have done a better job of adding or molding the current roster he had. Others have said he was starting with nothing thanks to Holmgren, but considering he had a nucleus G, Vorecek, Simmonds, Schenn, Ghost to start with I find that argument ignorant to the facts. Sure he had some salary cap issues and for the most part did a good job of managing that.
In the cap world, your 1rst picks or a few lower ones need to produce at the NHL level before they become a drag on the salary cap. Had guys like Patrick, Rubstov, O’brien, Sanheim hit then this team would be in a better position. Where Clarke was correct is the reinforcements that were drafted to replace that core have not developed to keep this team competitive. Hextall’s plan was never going to work if they didn’t draft and develop the “right” guys. - landros 2
That is why you can't just put all your eggs in the draft, because you need a lot of luck to pick the right players, and even then you have to hope they stay healthy and develop. The bright side about this season is the Flyers should be able to draft a really good player, or they will have a strong asset to use in a trade. |

Yes, this year is Hayes is done, but you have to hope he can rebound because the Flyers are really stuck with him. |

Right now you are stuck with that contract. Maybe a year from now that may change.
In the summer bad contract for bad contract is all I got today. Center wise things are not looking great for the flyers.

Let's continue the hyperbole of false negatives and true positives
mixed in with ancient history lessons on why this franchise is where it is and the never ending and continued organizational suck....
The mixed metaphors as to who was the worst of the best terrible GMs is so refreshing everyday.
Our revolving cycle of the best of the worst motivators and tacticians with their negatives with false positive narratives must continue.
The wizards here should be able to solve everything and wave their magic wands and rewrite the perfect positively negative history.

And that's why Rags got rid of AV.. His love of guys who have been around for yrs no matter how ineffective they are vs young players. Rags didnt want him anywhere near a rebuilding team |
