well I still like Fletcher and I think Flahr is a good drafter, so I still believe they can turn this around - jd250
when do you think the flyers will start to bear fruit from Fletcher's draft picks?

How long do you think it will take to develop a #1 center? do the flyers have one in the system? - hello it's me 2050
I don't think the Flyers have a number 1 center inn their system. If the Flyers draft high and get lucky, they could fall into one within a couple of years. But I agree it's not overnight. |

They do a good job drafting but Fletcher hasn't built anything in the NHL in over 12 years as an NHL GM. The most incompetent, mystifying and colossally stupid approach was taken by this organization thinking that they could trade and sign their way to the top in a short period of time. Now you think they can turn it around. |

They already are in Cam York. You could see Foerster and Tuomaala next season, as well as O'Brien whom Hextall drafted. As I mentioned earlier, JOB is really starting to put things together at BU and we should be excited about that. |

you build a contending team around a strong goalie, solid top defenseman and depth down the middle. You are stuck with Hayes at this point, so the best you can hope for is he helps you with depth down the middle which I think when healthy he can. - jd250
Does a 4th line center count for depth up the middle? You build a team around top high quality players. Not 3rd line centers. If he can get healthy, I have no doubt that Hayes can be a solid player again but this team needs more out of it's higher cap hit players and his salary and cap hit will be a detriment moving forward.

York has not bear an fruit. Has less than 10 games so far.
Beyond laughable really. Tumu is killing it in Europe. Not excited in any way about JOB. |

no we shouldn't players play well all the time in the lesser leagues and don't amount to much more than 3rd/4th liner in the NHL |

There is little to no chance that O'Brien is going to jump straight to the NHL next year. Tuomaala and Foerster are also unlikely.

But really what choice do we have? I'm a fan and I desperately want them to succeed. I really don't want to start all over again. Look they went for it last year, it didn't work out but they have pieces here that can form a new core and if augmented with good young talent could do something. At least that is what I hope. Ellis will come back, so will Couts, and Hayes will recover. Cam is on pace for 30 goals this year, Hart is playing great, York looks like the real deal, Farabee is going to be a really good player, we can build on this. |

Anybody following the Reid Boucher story?
Molesting his 12 yo billet sister... then USA hockey covered it up by just moving him to another billet family... JFC disgusting. Guy is still playing pro hockey in the KHL.

but that's any franchise, look how long it took for Colorado to get McKinnon, or Edmonton to get McDavid, and it's still not enough for those teams. |

They have the same choice they had last year and the year before that. And the year before that. The issue is not that you don't want to start all over again. The issue is that they need to start all over again and that the moves they've made in the last two years will be a hindrance to starting all over again. Likely compounded by more stupidity this upcoming off season.

I'm interested, why are you so down on JOB? Would you prefer they have yet another 1st round pick that fails? Have you watched him play? He is really good and BU had been winning since he has come back into the lineup, they were . 500 while he was out. Hockey East is one of the top college hockey conferences in the nation and many NHL players have come out of there. |

Every young player is going to be ready. This is great. They don't need to do much after all.

Add might to the flyers vocabulary of future success.
do you ever listen to what you say? How many fn young guys do you think the flyers will incorporate into the lineup next year? Under contract:
hayes
ex selke
TK
Joel
Oskar
Scotty core player
JVR
Cam
Frost
Then you have: Allison - Tanner.
They will def sign some stiff for the 4th line as well.

again, Hayes signing hinders no doubt. But what other move is hindering them?? Most of last year's signings are expiring this season so they are irrelevant. Risto will be traded, so will G, so will JVR and the Flyers will be in decent shape. They will have picks and cap space and a core group of players to build around. It's not all bad here! |

You hope. Another flyers key word.
They wil then have to replace RR and CC. So how much they really gonna save?
Doesn't ex selke get a huge raise as well? Joel?
They have over 66 million tied up in 13 players for next season.
Again who is this core group to build around? |
