What's more laughable is that DJ says at his presser he's not sure if Mur will start, he has to ask his goalie coach?! What happened to you win and you're in quote that both DJ & PD said on TSN TV in Dec. He says Forsberg got them started on this run so he deserves a start, huh??

The coaching staff and management said they sent him down to Belleville to get his game back on track. Now that he's playing well, DJ isn't sure if he will start?! Let him start the next bunch of games, let him get his game back as you told all the Sens fans!

Agree you roll with him until he either loses 2 games in a row or fatigue sets in 👍
Murray has played great last 2 games and made some great game winning saves no way you take this man outta crease 🤦‍♂️

100% roll with Murray. He was awesome in Calgary, not so great in Edmonton, but the guy needs his rink legs back, and he could use something vaguely approximating a vote of confidence. Plus his team actually rallied to win when he put up a sub 900 night. He hasn't had many of those, so roll with the mojo.

wonder if Drake is kicking himself (or his agent) for signing that 5M dollar deal last year.

The only reason Formenton got 2nd line minutes was due to injuries, otherwise DJ would have kept him on the 3rd line and kept him from developing! Stutzle got center time due to injury, all of these revelations are because of injury not because DJ thought he should give these players opportunities! Same goes for Thomson and JBD, we never would have saw them this year if not for injury. This coach is an utter idiot!

We need to watch and see how it unfolds. The kids are putting up remarkable numbers. Shocked to read this morning that only Yashin scored more than Norris at the beginning of his NHL career.

Overall you have to be pleased when you take a pause look at Norris, Batherson, Tkachuk, Formenton, Stutzle, Chabot as well as some of the other young guys coming on the horizon.

Not sure it serves any useful purpose to be predisposed to being unhappy or impatient.

You need to relax, be patient and enjoy when a team finally gets it right. The Sens are headed in the right direction. We don't know when they finally emerge as an elite team...but, they are close.

I think they challenge for a wild card spot next year and if they make it scare a few people. After that it gets serious. The transformation will be swift and it will be breathtaking.

This is the place where I give Smith a break. You need a lot of things to go right in order to win the Cup and some of those things you have no control over; but some you do.

One of those things you do control is disciplined play and if that is something he is teaching this team now then credit where credit is due because they're going to need it to actually win that Cup.

Things always look good when you play against teams that don't bring their A game and don't play them hard and against backup goalies.

Tonight against a bad team that's playing back to back with a depth goalie. Should be easy win.

The positivity is nice by spatso and Whatisavailable. There are players that are progressing very nicely. One has to think of the 7-player profile Pirerre McGuire is undoubtedly pushing on Dorion. Here is the profile and Senator players that could fill the roles with the current roster:

1. #1 all star center – Norris
2. #2 all star center - Stutzle
3. Top power forward - Tkachuk
4. Specialist/Utility Player/Agitator/Shutdown center – Pinto/Batherson
5. All star offensive d-man - Chabot
6. Top shutdown d-man - Zub
7. All star goalie – Murray

Now obviously, some of these are massive reaches, some are bang on, and some warrant some discussion. In my mind, only Tkachuk and Chabot fill their roles.

If Stu remains at centre and him and Norris keep improving, there could be something there for a solid 1-2 combo.

The specialist category is a bit all over the place. Batherson would be a scoring specialist. Pinto could potentially be that effective 3rd line centre.

Sanderson is probably slated to be the future shutdown d-man, but it’s an area that is very unclear right now.

This team doesn’t have an all-star caliber goalie yet. Goalies are unpredictable, so this may work itself out in time.

There is lots of work to do to take the next step. You have to be careful with time. Waiting is fine, but you have to hit being a contender when everyone is in their prime and not all on their big contracts. Next couple of seasons are incredibly important.

Next couple of seasons is exactly when you wait unless someone offers you a deal you can't refuse. By the end of next season you're going to have a much rather idea of what you actually need that's not coming internally and you won't be getting any more lottery picks for a very long time. That's when you move.

With the current alti of his salary echelon at 23 years old I dont think he can have too many complaints, especially given he seems to really be enjoying his role/team/experience.

I hear Michael Houser is the starting goalie for Sabres tonight. Not exactly a household name.
