Regardless of if the goal stands, Tuch is a beast sometimes. One hand tossed that dude in the corner to get the puck to the net. Jack who?

Isn't there some famous Sabres game that took place during a blizzard, and the building was almost completely empty?

In the 1970s, maybe?

Seriously, are we the only ones who see an ethical issue here?
- BeadyEyedDouche

I was more referring to a coach being asked about injuries and then openly telling people what it is.

Eichel can tell me all about his injury status, that's fine. He has every right to do so.

A team telling me about a players injury is where it gets weird to me.

You're reaching, I got that information directly from the HIPPA website

https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa...-for-consumers/index.html

- Stripes77

I'm not reaching for anything. It's against federal law for an employer to disclose a player's medical information. That's not even something you can argue against.

What I'm saying is that the street should go both ways. A professional athlete should not be allowed to disclose his medical information publicly. And from what I understand, he essentially waives his right to federal protection concerning medical information when he signs a contract.

I appreciate your responses and information, but you aren't even addressing what I said.

And all of this aside, regardless of how bad the Sabres public image is, Eichel disclosing medical information, publicly saying he doesn't want to play for them anymore and the circus that followed, including him golfing, playing hockey, carrying people on his shoulders... the team could have absolutely sued him privately. You're telling me a billionaire couldn't have afforded lawyers to absolute drag this guy through court?

Man (frank) that kid.

But I'm still going to have to say, no, an employer is not allowed to disclose medical information for one of their employees, and that is protected under federal law.

Dahlin needs to be more controlled there. Just gave it back to them while on the power play leading to the odd man rush.

The players have agreed to it, as per the CBA, so no ethical issue here for me.
- Atomic Wedgie

Well that's what I'm getting at. Stripes is trying to argue against this. The players in signing that contract, waived their federal protection concerning medical disclosure.

There were a lot more teams siding with the Sabres doctors here.

Eichel will be fine for a while, the entire reason for the debate of which type of surgery is the lack of data about how an artificial disc would hold up for a hockey player.

One big hit and it could be game over, there just isn't enough data in that regard.

- Stripes77

That's the thing Stripes, yeah he looks good, but one good hit and it could be a problem.

If he had just looked the other way he had an outlet if he felt too much pressure. Instead, just threw it.

None of that has anything to do with the player not disclosing an injury though
It doesn’t go both ways, even if u think it should

You're wrong though, can I go around and tell other employees about someone else's medical history? No, but am I allowed to discuss another persons medical history to my boss, or to HR or an insurance company? Yes I am.

Can an employee tell other people their own medical history? Yes

Can a contract prevent me from discussing my own medical history? If it is in the contract yes, but the person who signed that is an idiot.

The CBA allows players to get second opinions, only way to do that is disclose medical information, so it is not in the contract to prevent him from doing so.

Yeah
I was talking about once he was back in our zone though

Not a great sequence for him (obviously)

He’s been much better overall this season though imo
Nice to see him make a step forward

or its absolutely zero (frank)ing problem at all and a bunch of Sabres fans are secretly hopping for it, which is super weird.
