I would still avoid it, as well as the giants job - homiedclown
That's such a tricky situation, especially for someone who's never been a head coach. There are only 32 of these jobs, and barring extreme incompetency from one team or another, the "can get a job anywhere" guys are all locked up. Eventually, you could end up getting passed over for good. |

Yeah, you're probably right. Would explain Risto's return too. I don't know, just seems wild. Even saw a talking head refer to him as a defensive stallwart...he's at like 65% ozs!!! Willfully oblivious. - QuinnFan
I don't know what changed in the last couple years, but his defensive game has definitely taken a hit from where he was the first 3 or 4yrs. |

I still can't believe Klingberg is the big ticket item. I don't even think he's good.
He's another big guy that can put passes in the wheelhouse. He doesn't score, bad at defense...I don't get it. - QuinnFan

Really, I usually agree with your takes....
Seams like a fanaramma idea to hire briere.
This team needs the fan's back or will flat out relocate at some point.
There were probably 1,000 fans there yesterday. Weather playing a part.
Free parking in garage, access to any seat. Kids day atmosphere. - Boss34
I don't see any logical argument that says we should hire Danny Briere to be the GM for literally any other reason than the Sabres fans like him.
He could be good. Kevyn could be good too. Or, he could be ok, or suck, but my point is, where's the backup that says 'this guy is good, and will be good in the nhl', because the way I see it, he's just the likable version of Kevyn Adams with less business acumen.
Then again, who the (frank) knows who will be good or not. The greatest player to ever shoot the puck was a lousy coach. |

Maybe they needed to " learn on the job"
Pegulas didnt tank to get josh unicorn. They worked at winning on the fly....
Easily could have been all in on baker mayfield like uncle ion.
Instead they continued with a dignified rebuild - Boss34
Could be. Despite the long playoff drought the Bills were never as bad as the Sabres.... Just middling. Hitting on non-1OA like Josh and White has definitely been a big difference. |

Good post and especially the great one analogy. I've always felt like top coaches were generally not the top athletes....
Hockey now has some good former gm/ big bosses
Though.
Mario
Drury
Sakic
Hextall
Roy
Strangely some french canadians....
Also , briere's always struck me as a bright fella.
Similar to KAGM.
Add a little continuity to the Sabres past / present.
I would love the move, super fan friendly .... |

He is really bad... especially after hearing he didn't listen to his scouts about Makar and took Patrick and others without scouting or anyone for that matter behind his decision(s).
Briere was my favorite player growing up. Would not mind adding him to the fold. He can learn from others on the fly and KA can take weight off his shoulders dealing with media. Could even just add him as a AGM and move him up in a year or 2 after he gets his feet wet. |

I was just throwing hextall's name out there. They've been fairly successful under his leadership?
Interesting though, hadn't heard that before.
I heard rumors of briere and the habs a few weeks ago, must be on the radar.... |

All that podcast or whatever audio snippet it was from did was make Philly as an organization look bad.
Tear it down, trade Giroux and Risto to the oilers! |

How did it make Philly look bad? Its ultimately the GM's decision.. Unless your Buffalo then it Kerry's decision.
Hextall made 3 bad picks 3 years in a row... And the scouts wanted Makar not Patrick..

running game
something something - homiedclown
there are two very good games featured this week in the great beady/homie-led QB zealots vs. pegulaville run/defense debate:
packers have a hall of fame qb in 2021 first team all-pro aaron rogers who carries the team through the air...they do not have a top-10 defense
niner's have an average qb with a top-10 rushing attack (#7 yds, #6 tds) and the no. 10 defense (pts-against)
bengals have a qb in burrows with the second-best qb rating behind rogers with a defense ranked worse (17th) than the packers (14th)
Titans have an average qb with a top-5 rushing attack (both yds and tds) and were 6th in points-against...
who ya got? |

Packers should win easily, Dallas threw up all over themselves.
I like the Bengals but the Titans will most likely be to much for them if Henry returns and looks like himself
