the only formula I see is you need an upper tier qb to greatly enhance your chance to be in the conference title games, the super bowl and to win the super bowl
3 of the best qbs in the afc will be playing this coming weekend as will brady, rodgers and probably stafford - homiedclown
Trending the way of having a great QB and a great defense.. Almost like both of the sides of the argument can be true at once.. whodathunk..
TBF though, Brady was barely decent his first 3 super bowls as a starter. Wasn't exactly what anyone would call dominant. Those Pats defenses were though. Anyways, not going down a rabbit hole here. There's more than one way to win. |

First off, WE ALL KNOW Jack asked for a trade. It's been widely reported from everyone.
Second, there's no point to spending any money this year on players anyway, and everyone knows it. They're setting themselves up, cap wise, to be players in free agency (whether they can get players to sign here is irrelevant). - Powerslave
Good post
And it also seemed like Sam was leveraging his situation to become a free agent after this season of we didn’t move him as well |

Ok…
And didn’t we ALL (for the most part) agree that it was time to trade Jack & Sam???
Was that them “interfering” or was that just a reasonable reaction to the sh!tty situation we were in? - jdfitz77
inexperienced GM led to reinhart wanting out
he would have locked up long term but instead was offered a 1 year deal before last season stated
watch the sabres brass panic and overpay olofsson, a worse player, reinhart money this summer

Good post.
But some people are just going to b!tch because that's what they do. - Powerslave
I am pissed to Power, I can't stand tanking and don't think it has to be done if your Organization is set up right. But I think Adams is trying to get there, he came into a fire storm and it's gonna take more than 15 months to do it. |

this was the 4th time eichel requested a trade
and is it so hard to throw a little cash at a goalie in case the team gelled?
if the sabres end up picking 8th or higher it's literally a wasted year
it's like they pushed their chips all in to try to get a top 3 pick when there is no guarantee that will happen which destroys the morale of the players, coaches, and fans - homiedclown
They mishandled the goalie situation.
What fans? 😂 But they'll be back when they start winning again. They ALWAYS come back.
The coaches know what this year is and what their roles are, and I think the players are smart enough to know what's going on here this year.

I don't think it's unfair to assume that they are still involved.
Why would you think they just step back.. - SDSabre
1- Homie has specifically said that they “backed off” after the ROR trade
2- again today, he even said they aren’t as involved as they used to be
3- we haven’t heard any stories of them interfering in a negative way in quite a while
*at least imo…. bc i don’t think saying “trade Jack & Sam” was interference, just common sense |

Every player says stuff like that though
He could’ve just been using Adams as an excuse to get to a winning team instead of going through with more rebuilding
Did u wanna keep Reinhart?
I always liked him as a player
But i also didn’t see much point to keeping him is Jack was being moved
And a potential mistake (or not) in signing Olofsson hasn’t happened yet, so I’m not gonna get into speculation about what move may or may not be made |

Agreed on the tanking. But, I think it's less about tanking, and more trying to build a team the proper way (draft, develop, stock the cupboard, etc).
Sh!t takes time to do it properly, unfortunately. |

I disagree on this part
they have to earn the fans back and there is no guarantee the fans will be anywhere near the level they use to be in
you now have an 11 year window where fans know nothing but losing and to expect them to pick up the slack on ticket sales is a stretch
we are witnessing a historic failure of an nhl franchise not a 3 year hick up |

Winning will do that
The early 2000s were pretty rough till the Briere & Drury led teams started kicking butt
Will this new rebuild result in winning?
Impossible to say
But I’ll remain hopeful, bc I’m a fan |

How many times in a row did a Sabres prospect win AHL rookie of the year?
Prospects are great and all, but as i constantly say, a majority of them fall flat.
Yes you need them, but to expect all of them is extremely short sighted.
Especially any player picks after pick say 15.

Adams has a great vision for the future and has executed his plan accordingly. He has done bare minimum to achieve short term growth which is because of ownership.
It sucks, it’s obvious, it’s dumb. If Adams can address the organization’s mental and physical toughness which is nonexistent than he might have a chance. |

Nothing wrong with being hopeful
Makes more sense than putting negative energy out there
For those without hope….
why bother letting the Sabres continue to have such an influence?
Doesn’t make much sense to me
It’s just hockey
Focus on the Bills
Focus on Family, work, Life in general
Letting a sports team constantly have u ranting on a message board is just nuts to me
*this is just directed at ppl on here in general,

When was the last time are prospect pool was this bountiful, 2013-14. Can't solely rely on prospects but it's nice to have a nice flow. Keeps you from having to make stupid trades to fill roster spots. |

55 for a nosebleed seat on an 82 game schedule or nosebleed price for a bills ticket
I think the economy, quality of play and how the younger generation embraces the sabres will be the difference between 14k in the arena or 18k |

it is a message board of perhaps the biggest failure ever for an nhl franchise though
historically worst team in an 11 year stretch ever
with owners that have had the team for what 12 years?

Backed off from being 100% in control doesn't mean not involved. I'm not gonna go round and round. Nothing suggests they've changed totally, if you want to infer that they've mildly stepped back fine. |

I guess we’ll see
But like i said, the fans were in the dumps after the Hasek trade in the early 2000s
1 year after the lockout we were in a waiting list to buy seasons tix
If we start winning again, this town will go nuts for hockey
It always has

Irrelevant.
They had a mid-season lull and have snapped back to attention when they needed to.
Juggernaut. Can't be stopped. Won't be stopped.
I know you guys think it won't happen because "it's Buffalo".
Allen, McDermott & co have nothing to do with that losing past.
The narrative about this town is about to change thanks to these Bills. - Losman
Didn't they lose to KC last year? |
