Gallant says Strome will play tomorrow. #NYR - jimbro83
Did something happen to Strome? I must have missed it. |

Problem is though the team is at 24 players and need to send one to the taxi squad. Unless Strome is added to IR, unsure they can put anyone else there. - airjan23
i just can't imagine Barron, 23 years old, is content to continue toiling away in the AHL. He's proved that he's at the very least paid his dues and is worth a look in the NHL somewhere, if not here. I just don't know what his future is here. |

bit realistically, he's actually only played 41 AHL games overall

Well players like Hunt, Blais, Rooney, McKegg aren't signed to contracts past this season as of now. So there is room for him next year |

He's crushed it in the AHL and his 3 years in college. I don't think he has anything left to prove. The fact that he's already 23 is working against us in terms of him having more patience |

if they let rooney walk and commit to him as 4th line center next year, great. but that's a big if |

Well, no, the ideal situation is we make the trade for Miller, Chytil is included in it. Thus allowing the Rangers to open up a 3C spot for Barron.
However, thats my pipedream, dont know what the organization is thinking. |

Yea, Chytil is the other obstacle for him. Guess we will see |

To answer Jan's question:
Yes to JT Miller ( with retention )
Luke Schenn
For:
2022 Unprotected 1st Round pick
2023 2nd Round Pick
Chytil
Kravstov
Lundkvist
Robertson
Rangers get Miller for 2 playoff runs and upgrades the teams biggest weakness. Rangers only lose one current player from their roster. Also removes the Kravstov distraction from the team. Obtaining Schenn allows Rangers freedom to trade Nemeth now or is at the very least an upgrade over Tinordi should someone get hurt.
Canucks get Chytil to replace Miller in current lineup. They get 2 picks to aid their rebuild and an opportunity to get Kravstov back into the NHL. They get a future 2nd defense pair with upside that will greatly help their rebuild. Most importantly, they don't add much salary cap here.
This is a costly price to pay for the Rangers, but you have to give to get and Canucks retaining allows us to have a signed 2nd line center for NEXT year. WIN/WIN

Again... we dont have to lose Miller after those 2 years. Its totally possible to retain him. |

Seems a bit high, but if VAN is going to retain a good deal of money then it's going to have to cost more. I don't think it's that far off, but two high picks plus 4 players/prospects might be a bit heavy on the Rangers end. |

NHL just announced that Mika Zibanejad will be one of the last men in for the all-star game. That gives #NYR three players will head to Vegas next month. |

I like miller, but way too much. Schein wont cost much at all. Four assets for miller is an overpayment in my opinion. |

Except they're not. Miller is currently PPG and Strome is 7 points off that pace. He is also significantly better on draws. He's been at or over 53% for 6 of the last 7 years. |

I feel the same.
I don't claim to know their exact worth, but that breaks down to 4 assets for Miller and 2 for Schenn.
I don't see who Schenn is an upgrade over for us. I certainly wouldn't expect he's worth more than a one for one swap of some kind. So, that's perhaps even 5 assets for JT Miller.
Doesn't this seem like overkill, even if they retain? |
