looking at Vancouver's cap for next year they don't strike me as a team that would be very interested in retaining

Yeah, THAT is the reason that trade won't go down.

Think I would rather give up less for Pavelski

Need to have assets for a forward and a blue liner, Klingberg, Chiarot or other.

I think that depends on what you'd potentially do with Strome. If you are going to resign him for certain, Pavelski makes sense in the fact it's just bonus if he'd resign here.

If you are on the fence about Strome, then JT Miller makes more sense since you can actually get a few seasons out of him here. Especially if you think Barron can move into the 3C as soon as next season.

whether or not they acquire another forward, this team desperately needs Kakko to bust out in 2nd half

there is no reason he can't, and honestly it will be really disappointing if he doesnt

I dunno, theres this passive-aggressiveness about him thats a little concerning. You can def see when hes out there hes no dummy, I just wish he was a bit more of an a-hole.

It’s not in his DNA. His talent is most obvious for the side boards in, but what came very easy in Europe, is not coming so easy in the NHL. I’m pretty sure he didn’t lose many puck battles back home, here he can’t win any. I want to give him time, but it’s a results based business.

Funny how different people can remember thing differently, because I feel he wins a lot of puck battles.

Sorry, I haven’t seen it, at least not to the level it needs to be. Besides, and I don’t want to get on Kakko here, but the truth is, he hasn’t shown anything that makes me believe he’ll become a top 6 forward in the NHL. Hope I’m wrong for his sake.

An o.k. to reacquire J.T. Miller with his $5.25 AAV to address their center need along with his faceoff skills, but only provided if also either directly with Vancouver, or through another separate move deployed, the assurance that sufficient cap space would still be available to prevent another lineup hole from occurring. That to re-sign long term one of their locker room leaders in Strome for the contributions he brings with his game, along with chemistry with his line mate Panarin and the entire team.

A 1st round pick along with Chytil, and either d'man prospect in Lundkvist or Robertson is a likely given, unless Vancouver were to also, (though slim of hope), directly retain a sufficient amount of Miller's cap hit. In that case, an additional 4th piece would also be necessary in either a roster player, a 2nd or 3rd round pick, or a minor league prospect to make certain that of key, Othmann or Cuylle among their top overall prospects are not included as a piece in a trade for J.T. Miller.

Tomorrow's home matchup vs. Toronto begins a stretch of 10 of the Rangers next 13 games overall at home for the NHL team going into today having the least amount of road games remaining for the season at 17, (vs. 26 remaining at MSG). The stretch ends on March 4th in a home rematch vs. the Devils, which would be the long awaited first matchup since the Rangers shootout win over NJ in that Nov. 14th game at MSG where "Slewban's" slew foot against Sammy Blais resulted in Blais tearing his ACL requiring season ending surgery.

The Leafs will be without their regular 2nd defensive pairing in Jake Muzzin (injured with a concussion suffered from a hard hit sustained against the Blues three days ago), and Justin Holl (out for Covid protocol). Both Morgan Reilly and T.J. Brodie will likely make up for some of those two's missing ice time with each one to play 25 minutes minimum. The Rangers are 10-3-2 at home, while the Leafs are 10-5-2 on the road for the season.

Palvelski is also a gamer and he won't hurt you with dumb penalties or bonehead defensive plays
He will cost alot less than Miller and he can help make a push to win cup and be gone..and NYR can keep Strome . Also, Kravs might still be an option as a RW come playoffs
