But don't you want to feel confident that your GM is getting the right advice? Looking at these 4 senior advisors, I'm not confident of this at all! - jd250
Anyone who doesn't think that the senior advisors don't have influence are kidding themselves. They all need to go and the hockey department needs to be completely revamped and they need to change how they do everything. It's blatantly clear.

He doesn't have to go into the office day to day to cause a lot of damage. The wrong piece of advice at the wrong time is enough to throw the ship off course. - Tomahawk

Seems obvious enough. The fact that he was not sanctioned for his little PR stunt last week says it all. |

These advisors don't just influence the sitting GM tho. They're in Dave Scott's ear, they're in the President of Hockey Ops' ear (before when the roles were separated), they're in the ear of the other department heads and scouts, the coaches, etc.
We know 100% that Clarke had a hand in Fletcher being hired, and probably Hexy being fired. Just that alone illustrates how big of a shadow these old timers are allowed to cast over the franchise, even in retirement. - Tomahawk
Exactly. Some aren't paying attention. |

I know right? I would have called up Foerster, Wisdom, Ratcliffe, Sandin, or Allison. - MBFlyerfan
Nah. Makes more sense to have Allison continue to get re-injured in the minors.

Most likely calculated among numerous employees of the hockey department.

That's another bullet that needs to be dodged.
Bring in young, fresh blood. We need novel solutions to solve all of these persistent problems. Not the same stupid ass way of thinking and doing things. - Tomahawk
Not a hard concept. Yet will not happen.

If clarke had a hand in Ronnie getting fired, then clarke should get a raise. It was the right move, just 2 years too late....maybe 3

Still with the false BS narrative, He gave an interview about his career. Then answered a simple question. Yeah that huge minute he talked about the former GM was def calculated. |

I know right. It didnt fit their story, so they are spinning it anyway they want. PRob didnt even listen to it. I loved the part about Paul Henderson calling him.....that was the best. And some good keenan insight.

I don’t think there is a team in the league that would be willing to trade their entire roster/prospects for ours. We very much might be the absolute worst situation league wide. Imagine they extend Risto... |

I think Colorado would. They have that stiff NAK skating a regular shift for them.

You tell me how much he takes their advice and i'll tell you how soon they need to get rid of them. I think homer may be occassionally, Clarke....next to never. Its just to give him a pay, and some free flights back to philly. Thats about it. - bradster
But that is my point. What was Clarke's number one complaint of Hextall, that he shut his door and made decisions in a vacuum, right? So Fletcher is supposed to be different, he is supposed to be working with his staff right? If I were a GM I would seek advice from my staff before I pulled the trigger on anything major. So that's my point, who is Fletcher talking to? I hope its not Homer, Clarke and Barber? |

I am actually glad I wont be able to watch this unwatchable, non competitive mess that has become the Philadelphia Flyers.
As has been said, this franchise needs a complete tear down from top to bottom. Nothing should be left out or ignored.
The entire organizational philosophy is outdated. Enough of drafting "Flyers type" players. It is obvious that those kinds of players can not compete in today's NHL.
Its made all the worse by the way this team continues to develop the players they DO have.
Everything must go. Build around the goalie. Change the scouts, the coaches, the training staff, the ownership. A Flyerfire sale.
I've watched this team religiously through all sorts of bad stretches, but this one has worn me out. - MBFlyerfan My friend thanks for saying exactly what I've been thinking today. Hard to believe but this is the first time I'm glad to not watch them...pretty sad.

speaking on injuries, I saw York take a big hit behind his own net in the 3rd yesterday. He got right up, but if he keeps taking hits like this he will be injured soon enough. |

Clarke's complaint is that he was shut out along with the rest of the alumni and country club members. Any notion that Hextall did not work with his direct staff and scouts is unfounded and ridiculous.

I'm sure there are no shortage of individual bad players on bad contracts that teams would love to shed to add guys like Ivan, TK, Sanheim, Hart, Coots, etc. Just charge em draft picks/prospects/younger players to do it and go from there.
