Ritchie back on the ice but not Clifford still in.
Can't see him being around much longer. - Santo_44
Not being a Richard . . . not fully interpreting the extra word - is Clifford playing or not?
He has been the worst Leaf on the ice every game he's played. Last game by FAR. The Athletic gave him credit for blocking a shot with his face and gave him a B, I think, for his effort in game. The best thing he did was accidental and absolutely not something he'd have wanted to do again if he had the option and the rest of the time he was out of position out of the play non-competitive and even out-hit. What is his purpose?

Stupid questions are the North American way.
If you go into a shopping mall or store and they have a security guard at the door asking : "do you have any Covid symptoms?" Who the (frank) is going the say yes? - winsix
Don't disagree that both sets of questions seem stupid but the comparison isn't a fair one.
The security guard is asking the questions he has been told he must ask so the business (mall) owner can check the box saying the screened everyone and not get fined by the province. It's stupid and just a mockery but the moron reporter chooses to ask the stupid and insulting questions on his own and then follows it up with an insult wrapped up as a question. If I was the player I'd just have either ignored his "why are you pissy" question all together and smiled while looking at the rest of the room and asked if anyone else had a question or if I was feeling extra pissy just got up and walked away without a word.
Nice to see Edmonton has it's own version of Steve Simmonds though.
This still makes me laugh (I assume it was Simmonds Phil the Thrill was calling an idiot)

Clifford is playing
I think he has been as good as Ritchie has been....Hasn't done anything bad but throws some hits.

Michael Landsberg figured this out 30 years ago - don't ask a hockey player a hockey question, don't ask a baseball player a baseball question. If you want interesting and honest answers, ask a hockey player a baseball question, and a baseball player a hockey question. - Atomic Wedgie

i havent cared about media questions and player answers in 10+ years.
watching them spar is fun, but I just get zero value from player interviews.
maybe just me, but I think I have so much access to stats and other stuff that idgaf what he players answer is to ...what can you do better - senstroll
What bugs me is that we live in the age of circular idiocy. Before social media really took off, like in the 80's and before that, we didn't have the information feedback loop that we live with today most of this idiocy was linear - it happened and we moved forward.
Now you have an incident, it blows up, goes viral on social media and you have both information echoes (where the story comes back long after it happened and blew over) as well as mimics which try new ways to issue the questions in vain attempts to repeat the idiocy. Everyone's desperate to create a viral moment so they try to ride the wave and it just circles. The guy at the middle - Draisaitl hasn't heard the end of it, because (a) there's so much information that people are slower to consume it, hence the echoes, and (b) the media think people want to hear more about it. So the pot keeps getting stirred, but once again it's really the tail wagging the dog and the media has lost their sense of their actual role in all of this. Instead of leading social media, they're following it.
At least that's my take on this crap when it happens.

You want Clifford in at 1M over Ritchie at 2.5M. - Santo_44
I'll double down and say that I sincerely believe that Clifford has been noticeably worse than Ritchie, but for what Ritchie is bringing, @ $1m, he's not bringing much more than Clifford.
To me the difference is that Ritchie has it in him to bring more than he is, but Clifford has nothing left other than the shell we see.
The games get tougher from here until the Cup is won. Guys like Ritchie have the opportunity step up and show what they have. I'm honestly hoping he does, because this is really his time to show why he's worth so much.

I don't think Ritchie will be here by the end of February.
Ritchie isn't as bad as we have seen, could stick around and prove useful by playoffs but I do think there are some teams intrigued by him.
Its the NHL...There are GMs out there that drool over the fact a player is 230 pounds every night.

Questions for guys with smokers:
Do you use it enough to justify it? A couple of neighbours I talk to say they don't use theirs anymore.
Do you fully cook stuff in it, or just finish it off in the smoker? I've just started "doing my internet research", and it looks like you can make good ribs in six hours. Do you do things like steak and chicken in the smoker, or just throw them in at the very end?
You frankers got me so excited about BBQ season yesterday, I spent two hours this morning shovelling off the backyard deck and patio.
