Some peoples jobs are to criticize others posts, and opinions yet rarely offer up any substantial thoughts on how to fix it themselves. Hence the constant arguing. Its easy to criticize, but if you offer thoughts how to fix, then you open yourself up to being criticized. - bradster
Yep, it is one of the reasons I rarely get involved anymore.
The best way to fix this site is the same thing that would start the fix the Flyers
Stop doing anything that creates income for them and wake up the mods here and make Comcast see the bottom line chart downwards..
Without knowing some of the private things a GM hears or is instructed to do, it is like criticizing a battle plan without knowing any of the intelligence provided

My take on some Flyers stuff:
Fletcher: has done much more damage than good. Would like to see him gone before he makes another bad move. Get someone who knows how to both evaluate and develop talent
Frost: he’s a young kid who, due to injury, has played all of 80 or so games as a pro over 2 seasons. This season is toast. Put him on a line with 2 skilled players and let’s see what he can do over 40+ games
Couts/Ellis/Hayes: Shut them all down for the rest of the season. If any need surgery, do it asap. Give them ample time to get healthy for 22-23.
Yeo: let him finish the season and move on. Look for a coach who understands how to develop talent and how the game is played in 2022. No more crap retreads!
Giroux: get a list of teams he will go to and let the new GM, not Fletcher, make the best deal possible
Ristolainen: get what you can for him at the deadline and cut your losses.
JVR: retain up to 50% if need be and move him at the draft. Someone will take him. - BiggE
Not sure how anyone could disagree with a word of this. But people argue for the sake of it here so.....

draft and develop. - hello it's me 2050
Didnt Ronnie try that, and here we are. Did we fail at drafting or developing? I'd say both. But cant just say we dont develop well, if the players arent high level. I don't care how well you develop, there needs to be skill to work with. You cant turn Meyers into a Pronger just by developing.

So you expected the 14th overall pick to be the 5th best player taken from the 2018 draft three and a half years on? - Feanor
He is in the lineup. I expect him to produce. Period. Still way to early either way.
Has he made strides this year in his overall game?

So I guess my negative spin today is asking which overpaid Flyers player is now injured and eligible to file for Social Security Disability....
And is this season actually a planned tank??? - RajaAmpat
I wish it were so, but I personally doubt it.
Here is a succinct take. In 2018-19, they finished #22, without a good RHD to shore up D. Enter Niskanen and increasingly desperate attempts since: Gus, playing Braun up, Risto, Ellis, Ghost, and so on.
4 years later, that hole is still unplugged. We are #25, roughly the same as we were.
That fundamental hole is the difference between finishing say 14-18, and 22-26. The rest is noise.

had dates wrong. My mistake. Doesn't change the fact he was on the bench at some point does it?

It's old news we talked already about extensively when it happened.
Keep up, champ.

The entire team as a whole hasn't played the right way for a number of seasons now. Mike Yeo has been a constant during that. Yeo should look in the mirror and realize that he and his fired coaching counterparts have failed in getting the team to correct the errors that it constantly makes on the ice. Jake Voracek was not the problem. - MJL
well, I can't argue that Yeo has been part of the coaching staff and therefore one of the voices this team has heard for 3 seasons now. I do see the players finally trying to play more of the way Yeo describes he wants them to play, but clearly the habits on this team have been hard to break. |

Agree with Frost. Also have to realize this kid may be a total bust. I know that is blasphemy on some sites despite it being a real possibility. - hello it's me 2050
That's exactly why he needs to be put in a position to find out. Not going to find out playing on the 4th line and can't wait to have to figure it out at next year's training camp. This team is failing at failing.

This is what we should be focusing on in this board, along with some humor..actual plans on what should be done ...not waterboarding our eyes .
Playing any gigs in Fla? Several people I know set up small tours down there for their blues bands.. - RajaAmpat

Clearly for whatever reason this doesn't seem like it will happen. It is dumb on the surface. Makes zero sense.
Not being there everyday are there underlying issues why he isn't getting a more advanced look?

One theory could be that Yeo/CF are in job saving mode, and don't have a long term pov. Frost may benefit from more/better exposure but right now does not give them the best chance to win.
I am not defending it, just trying to rationalize. |

Then Yeo is dumb as fn stump if he thinks he has any chance to coach this team after this season.
If he does than playing Frost makes more sense using that angle.
That being said yes that is a possible reason.

Never underestimate the incestuousness of NHL and similar management. And the excuses that Covid + injury offers for this year.
Yeo inherited a ship without Hayes/impaired Hayes/no Couts/no Ellis/Roo out for a few games/Yandle with his streak burden/Risto out for a few/ etc etc.
If some of these guys come back, and they go say 0.65+ in the last 25 games, I say he stays.

Good for him. I don’t get some of the Jake hate. Was he a franchise forward? No, but at his peak he was legit top line playmaker, possession driver and quality pp guy. Also, outside of Clarke, Barber, Lindros, Recchi, Eklund, Forsberg and Giroux, he’s as good a pure playmaker as any Flyer ever. |
