We're getting a top 5 pick and new management that looks pretty damn competent.
This season is (frank)ing awesome. - Scabeh
I see through your smile to the tears behind it Scabeh!
That being said if your going to have a bad season be really bad for a good pick is definitely the right way to go and the Habs are in a fierce battle with the Coyotes for the gold medal in that race.
It is still insane that they were in the finals last year and now at the bottom of the league & if that happened to the Leafs this place would be pure insanity but then again 1967 is alot longer ago than 1993.
And this sounds like a cheap shot at the Habs and Carey, but it isn't:
If he isn't 100%, there's absolutely no reason for him to go back this year. - Atomic Wedgie
Absolutely. I think this is a perfect opportunity to let him work on the issues he was having and work on his injured knee. I can't see any good coming from him playing for him or the team.

We don't have Canadian goalies on par at this time. I honestly don't know any beyond Price and Carter Hart. - Aaron_85
If the goal was to tank for the 1st overall pick I'm your guy!
Othewise agreed - Looks like Jarry is the best (with AF the next best) current Canadian goalies in the NHL right now. Jarry is having a good year with 30 games played and a GAA of 2.08 and Sv% of .928.
That is good enough to be the '3rd best' goalie in the league right now what's unknown is if that's the real him or is this just an extended hot streak? I haven't seen him play enough to really know personally.

Meh, considering Weber, Price, Edmundson haven'T played all year.
Important pieces like Danault and KK left.
Injuries piling up (I highly suspect players started the year without being completely healed from the SCF run) and Covid affecting something like 24 players at one point where we had to play our AHL team and 2-3 NHL guys.

I love Carey Price, so I mean no disrespect, but he has 4 years left at $10.5M, hasn't played all year, and has a meniscus problem.
Who the hell wants him, and who the hell has cap space for him? - Atomic Wedgie
Oilers will trade for a goalie before the TDL, if the price for Georgiev is too high, Price could be considered, expecially if Habs take back some bad deals - Oilers have plenty of those.

Kenny Holland's ears just perked up similar to how Batman reacts to the bat signal and he loudly proclaimed "HOLD MY MF BEER!!!!".
In all seriousness I agree there is no point in Price rushing back or being rushed back in Montreal but if there is a possibility to trade him and he wants to go getting some game time in before the deadline is a must I would think.

Imagine how much anger there would be in here if the Leafs had made the cup finals last year and lost and then were putting up numbers this year like the Habs are?
A buddy of mine is a huge Habs fan and he actually texted me last night after the leafs lost chirping me saying Campbell couldn't stop a beach ball and this was the start of the collapse.
I didn't even have the heart to reply, I just let him have it. If it made him feel better about this hockey season it's worth it. - Cush29
They went to a cup final last season and will probably get a top 5 pick this draft along with new management.
Things arent that bad in habs land.

I don't think the Habs are in a position to trade Price, unless he asks for a trade.. Right now, the other options are just not that good.. Allen, Primeau, Montembeault

It would only be crazy for those leafs fans not hanging out in reality.
The habs lost key players to FA, their number one goalie and key players to their roster to injury (all these players were the reason they went to the finals).
It would be awesome to go to a cup final and then get a top 5 pick the next year.
Cause the 3rd year you would be back on the upward swing.

Habs will be unloading big time this year. They already tried to move Price to Seattle but Seattle didn't bite. If he can be moved, it will happen, if he can be great again, he can do what Roy did to them.
