They went to a cup final last season and will probably get a top 5 pick this draft along with new management.
Things arent that bad in habs land.

- Fakepartofme

I don't disagree at all but we are viewing that from the outside, we both know if the Leafs were the Habs the tune in here would be MUCH different. Again Leaf fans have been waiting for playoff success for alot longer than the Habs though.

we all know how this plays out, Freddy has game 7 shutout on way to leading his team to the Cup Finals.

easiest script to write ever. put all your playoff pool money on the Canes

If you listen to what Keefe said after the game, he doesn't agree with you.

Also called the Leafs' game "soft and purposeless, exposed in a lot of areas. This one should bother us greatly". Well said.

- fifty__missions

The key word of his post game talk was- "Today". He was talking about that game and he was right. They didn't play nearly good enough.

It would only be crazy for those leafs fans not hanging out in reality.
The habs lost key players to FA, their number one goalie and key players to their roster to injury (all these players were the reason they went to the finals).
It would be awesome to go to a cup final and then get a top 5 pick the next year.
Cause the 3rd year you would be back on the upward swing.

- Fakepartofme

So basically 99% of Leaf fans.

Yes, cause they are helping their current teams do so well now.

I need to get ready for dentist soon….

Anderson took his team to the finals

Jenner is C and has 15 goals this year

Savard was only a deadline rental and improvement over Holl

Korpse would’ve been a cheap backup, but is struggling this year

You were very very wrong about Mikheyev 😆

I don’t think Keefe challenged?
- jribout

I think he did?

I'm not positive or anything but I think I remember it being reviewed.

It makes it more interesting both involved the leafs. Lol

It straight up proves that the officials and league office have no idea what the rule is and are making it up as they go along.

Agree, that plus Shesterkin was great and a little lucky. Goal by Marner was excellent, face save on bullet by Matthews was really lucky. (frank)en bounce on top of the net to boot.

Neither should have counted.

Or change the rule and allow kicked in/redirected goals.

- Fakepartofme

I completely agree.

Only reason I was saying the Matthews kick should be counted is because the NHL set the precedent with their previous rulings.

Doubt it, but it would not be a stretch to see him score 20-25 goals this year, next deal could be for $4M + if that happens

Habs will be unloading big time this year. They already tried to move Price to Seattle but Seattle didn't bite. If he can be moved, it will happen, if he can be great again, he can do what Roy did to them.
- winsix

In my opinion, the Habs retaining salary or taking on a bad contract doesn't help them.

If Edmonton offered them Evan Bouchard, a 2022 1st rd pick, Puljujarvi and Xavier Bourgault, then maybe you retain, but I don't see a team giving all that up with so much uncertainty around Price

Yeah but

Matthews kicked the puck in - no goal. Twitter man finding one that went other way doesn’t really change anything.

Only 10M+ player to win a playoffs series to this day.

How (frank)ing crazy is that?

But yeah, Habs would need to retain salary to make it happen.

To more they retain, the higher the return too.

There was some year where some guy was out indefinitely with a some minor thing like sore throat or something and Mario Lemieux was Day to Day with cancer.

It's interesting and at the same time not surprising. Loss against Colorado, collapse against Vegas and last night will drum up some panick in Leaf Nation. I would think Roeper has bad diarrhea today.

Oilers have plenty of garbage they could unload. Price ($2M retained) for Cody Ceci, Zack Kassian, Mikko Koskinen and a 2nd.
- winsix

The question that comes to mind here:

Why not keep Price is all you're getting is garbage and a 2nd?

Edmonton could very well win the cup with Price in top form.

True, but it isn't just one game.
It is multiple blown leads, some shoddy defense and Goaltending has been pretty meh.

I just chalk it up to the missed games and covid messing with the routine and the rhythm they had going on the ice.

There will be question marks about this team's work ethic until they have some actual success in the playoffs.

Oilers are very tight against the cap, Koskinen actually helps the Habs. They get a terrible goalie that will help the draft pick, his contract expires after this year, Habs will still need to take another poop contract maybe two to make it work.

With Price in "top" form, many teams would have a serious shot.

Not sure he ever gets there again though, at least not back to the best-in-the-world form.

Agree and Montreal current management much more competent IMO than Holland. But Oilers are tight against the cap, only way this works is if they can unload some crap.
