I'm not sure that anyone is going to take Zucker because of his injuries and contract, but ZAR is a cheap physical PK presence playoff teams would like. If you can move him and bring in another winger that might be ideal. Namestnikov in Detroit would be a great addition on Malkin's wing. - burgh4life87
Namestnikov is probably getting an extension. |

That sucks. I'm guessing he has become one of those "veteran glue guys" for Detroit that just makes things happen? |

He’s cheap. He’s decent. He grew up in the area. He was an Yzerman pick. He can play all 3 positions, PP, and PK. |

We've seen teams out of the playoffs trade, then resign before. It's a free asset.

Yeah I guess, but even looking back at the show, I don't really think Tony and Richardie spent THAT much time together. He was just more... fatherly than Johnny Boy. I would think that his time with Richardie would be talked about with Dr. Melfi but I don't remember a ton of stories about experiences with the two together.
Not going to lie though, Uncle Junior calling the shots there at the end surprised me a bit.
Personally I was hoping for more Tony/Johnny interaction because that was always the discussion between Tony and Dr. Melfi. Side note, Lidia didn't seem nearly as wretched back in the day as she did in the Sopranos lol - j.boyd919
I think the movie was a swing and a miss. There was certainly something very interesting in the Richardie, Livia, Junior dynamic but it wasn't explored at all despite his strained relationship with Junior being the cause of his downfall in the end. It was a shock because there was literally zero build up to it, and I don't think that's a good thing.
I also feel like at the end we were getting a "If Richardie had survived maybe Tony would have gone down a different, better path" thing, but that went really under explored as well, and if the big draw of the movie is a Tony origin story, that's a really big misstep. I think too much time was wasted establishing a new story for Richardie with his dad, uncle, and love triangles when the movie should have focused on things that tied Richardie to Tony like his relationships with John Boy Soprano, June, and Livia. |

That’s not really how Yzerman operates. |

It would have been better if they did a mini series instead and got to expand on the relationships and characters, but I think for a movie they did as well as they could with the time they had. The movie wasn't completely supposed to be about Tony's origin, but his first exposure that would shape him later. I'm sure most people know this by now, but Moltesanti means "many saints," so this was supposed to be about Richardee to a good degree.
I don't think I agree about the better path part if Richardie survived. I think despite him trying maybe distance himself towards the end, the spark was already lit for Tony. If I had to try and extrapolate anything from the way it ended, I'd say it was foreshadowing Tony's fate for emulating Richardie. |

The top six is absolutely the problem with this lineup. Sullivan is so spent. |

Yes and no. In the first act when Richardie was still an unrepentant criminal he was already half-assedly telling Tony to take his school work seriously. In the third act Richardie is completely adrift and remorseful about his criminal life after murdering his gumar. Him and Sil have a conversation about how bright Tony is and how he could have a better future than the cosa nostra, and then Richardie gets popped. I think the ending is supposed to be ironic in that Richardie had this come to Jesus moment where even if he was too far deep into the mob life to get out, he could push Tony in a different direction, but he gets killed and Tony is impressionable and stupid enough to glorify Richardie's death in his mind and think that what Richardie would want is for Tony to follow in his footsteps. So yes, it foreshadows Tony's fate of repeating Richardie's mistakes, but the spark really lights in Tony during that final pinky swear. |

The way Simon and Boyle played on the road trip it's not surprising. ZAR only has 2 points since Thanksgiving. |

In regards to your last comment, I don’t even think there has to be any build up to Juniors hit on Richardie. Junior was petty as (frank) in the entire series of the Sopranos and this hit was totally on brand for someone as impulsive as Junior. All it took was Richardie laughing at him for falling, I felt that was accurate to Juniors character based on the Junior we knew. He was never good at personal relationships as seen with his relationship with Tony throughout the series as well.
Not to mention they led you to believe that it was Harold but completely came out of left field with the Junior.
For whatever reason I didn’t understand the pinky swear. Was that mentioned elsewhere or an homage back to the show? I can’t remember. |
