Gord Miller “and now a time out almost certainly for Ottawa”
You sure about that ? - Octavarium
Lol too funny!

Tkachuk and Watson fight tonight but we're led to believe JBrown brings a lot of toughness to the line up! It was his defense partner Brannstrom last game that wiped out Kylo O of Buff. |
|
|
|
wow, how does that no call happen on Norris in front of the net?! |
|
|
|
Just like the slash on Stutzle mid 3rd period, the guy destroyed his stick and his glove flew off! |

Meh, just do. Was just teasing, but you know what they say about glass houses and all. Last five years haven’t been kind to either fan base, regardless. Future may be their for either though, depending on the kids. - SDSabre
Jack Quinn scored his 1st career NHL goal tonight! That guy is a keeper!

Tim Stutzle, 1 goal, 3 SOG and a whopping 8 HITS to lead the team in hits! Gotta love it. |

For just one time I would love to see DJ show some kind of emotion behind the bench , I like to see him just flip out once and lose his poop on the ref specifically over the Norris I front of net 🤦♂️
What a chippy game we lost but this game I enjoyed
Yes Brown is an absolute waste of skin like Brannstrom is showing more brute force then him and he’s half his size so that must say a lot

Certainly, an interesting game last night.
While I have never been big on focusing on line combinations, I am getting a little tired of the one loaded line and Stutzle getting the best of the rest on his wings. I might propose mixing things up with the top 6 with the following:
Tkachuk – Norris – C. Brown
Formenton – Stutzle – Batherson
OR
Formenton – Norris – Batherson
Tkachuk – Stutzle – C. Brown
It’s clear DJ doesn’t want to utilize any of the Paul – C. Brown chemistry that exists and then seemingly puts both on crappy lines/centres. Brown has top 6 capabilities with the right players. Having a balance top 6 could create a little more consistent pressure and a tougher time for opposing teams to set matchups. These are interchangeable first and second lines.
2 loses in a row that probably should have been wins. Mix things up a bit and see if better results come along. |

Was an absolute laser too. He's going to be great. I wanted Rossi when we drafted, and I was pretty sour for a long time on Quinn (the Sabres older boards show me whining quite a bit about it). Glad he's proving me wrong, at least so far (Not just the goal last night, tied for the AHL lead while playing 7-10 less games then most of the other high scorers who mostly are older guys anyways). |

Fair enough, last 4 in Ottawa have stunk....Sens were 1 goal away from Cup Final in 2018. - Kevin Francis
And how many players are left from that team? And did the Sens build off that run?
Don't get me wrong, i loved that run. But the Habs run from last year was eerily similar. |

Stutzle with Batherson don t seem to work every time they try and broke the first line because, he s the motor of this line. I really like the other day Stutzle with Gaudette and Formenton. I don’t know why DJ broke this line after just one period. This summer Dorion have to find a winger for Stutzle. Maybe Giroux, Kuzmenko, Kravtsov, Fiola |

They should try and get Ilya Mikheyev from the leafs lol
Formenton Stutzle Mikheyev
Can ya imagine the speed of this line 😂🤙 I’d be happy with Giroux or Kuzmenko 👍 |

Stu and Drake are both great playmakers, so it makes sense to put them on separate lines. I am just not sure why the only solution so far is to load the first line. I’d like to see the second option I posted:
Formenton – Norris – Batherson
Tkachuk – Stutzle – C. Brown
I know DJ likely doesn’t want to split up Norris and Brady, but at a certain point, you have to try to spread the skill around more for a more complete game. |

It's funny you mention this, I am putting together a piece that talks about pros and cons of the game from last night and a look ahead to the game in Washington tomorrow. I will be touching on this point a bit!

mikheyev could be an option, but lets see how he fares this year in Toronto for a full season. At least with Giroux you know what you are getting.

I wouldn't mind Fiala, but a big NO to Kravtsov, what has he done?! He is doing nothing in the KHL, the NYR felt he couldn't play either!!
Kuzmenko, same thing, we don't know what he can do. We need proven vets that arent too long in the tooth!

Oh so agree! 2 wins this team should've had. I would like Paul and C. Brown on the 3rd line as a pair....ideally.....then like you said get a winger for Stutzle, then the dynamic changes and teams cant gameplan to shut down one line.

Watching the Oilers debacle, seeing Cody Ceci last night not moving his feet, doing nothing on a few goals, I couldn't help but think Ken Holland signed him like Glen Sather did with Wade Redden years ago. He gave Ceci 4 years at 3.25 million per year! Yikes! |

Kyle Turris on waivers today! What a surprise lol |

Couldn't agree more, Kevin. Brown and Paul on your third line would be awesome which is why I've posted in the past that I think at some point they're going to need to acquire a top six RW because I don't see one coming internally although I'd be happy to be surprised.
The good thing is that there's no rush so there's no reason for Dorion to get hosed unless he insists on getting hosed just on principle.
PS: Needless to say I think both Paul and Brown are keepers, not pieces to be moved at the deadline as some have suggested. Same goes for Holden. For now I favour holding on to Ennis as well. |

Oh exactly, don't move Paul, resign him as they should resign Holden as he's not an aging vet but a competent contributor to the team and he has the size to clear the front of the goal as DJ says that is the only reason JBrown is in the lineup! No need to get RW at the deadline, just get a high pick and focus on next year. CBrown has another year after this too. I like Ennis, totally with you. To think he could've been here last year instead of signing Dadonov or Galchenyuk, or trading for Paquette and Stepan! Man oh man!

No no no!!! I didn't mean at the deadline, absolutely not. Why in the world would you do anything that dumb?
I meant keep your eyes open in the UFA market this summer. If there's something great there take it. If not there's no rush. You might end up drafting a good RW. Who knows? Take your time. There's always next summer. |
