This isn't news. The most likely scenario has always been Gaudreau resigning.

I think if the team was sold on keeping him around, he would've signed already, but I think both sides wanted to see what happened this year. If they miss the playoffs again or are an easy out in the first round, I doubt the team really wants to commit 70 million to Gaudreau. I could also see them moving Tkachuk and trying to do an actual rebuild to get out of the perpetual loop of mediocrity they've been stuck in for the past 30 years.

First in the pacific in points percentage with Gaudreau on pace for 100 points...they are going to sign him

Like I said, the most likely scenario is he extends in Calgary. But if they don't do anything in the playoffs again, they have to question whether it's worth keeping the team together. With no new arena on the horizon, the ownership group might want to cut back on the payroll for a while, especially considering the Flames weren't really profitable before the pandemic.

It's also the perfect time for a rock bottom rebuild. If they don't bring back Gaudreau and trade away Tkachuk, Lindholm, and Markstrom, they'll easily be the favourite for Bedard and have a billion dollars in cap space.

Obviously, that's not going to happen though and the Flames will be chasing mediocrity forever.

The issue in Philly is not and has not been who the coach is over the past decade +. Look at the personnel-There in lies the problem.

What does 1974 have to do with anything?

Did Tocc play in 74?

Not sure what 1974 means.

You're a Flyer's fan and don't know their cup history? It's not complicated - they only won 2 of them.
