Reading all of you Jabronis ideas on who should run the Oilers is laughable. Not one of you has a clue about any of these guys credentials. They’re all assistant GM’s or heads of scouting or whatever that may have had some success in a secondary role but none of you know how they will do in the big chair over seeing all the different roles and responsibilities. You’re all just talking poop. - HonkyTonkMan
I haven't seen many suggestions on who should run them, just that change is needed. And a lot of rejection towards retreads. I have said since the day he was hired, Holland was the wrong hire. What is it now? 2.5 years later and everyone else is now agreeing. |

I think the Gillis for President was a good suggestion. Who would you want? - K-man25
I have no idea, I watch maybe 1 or 2 games a year. The point is that plenty of people look good as assistant GM’s , are good with contracts, cap management, amateur scouting or pro scouting but none of the guys you like have proven they can do it all as the top guy in the top league.
All you guys are doing are looking at the hot teams and assuming the #2 guy has all the tools to fix the Oilers. |

Nah , there weren’t a lot of people on these boards that were pro-Holland. Plenty were just glad Chia was gone but you were not unique or alone in your perspective.
The truth is, good Hockey men, even great ones have a successful run of 5-10 years in most cases, and they usually come out of nowhere, or rather, they all have different paths. Whether they are former players, career coaches or scouts that worked their way up with successful franchises is irrelevant . I agree, NO to retreads. |

Perhaps you need to retrace. Many were excited to be bringing in a formerly successful GM of name. Thought Holland could turn the team back around. Thought his track record would push them forward. I disagreed and was met with arguments that I was just being negative. |

I think the Detroit fans were the most excited. It you’re right there were also lots of Oiler fans that thought he was going to turn it around. There’s still a few that haven’t woke up to reality and they continue to use the Stanley cup winning GM schitch. |

I think most of the logical ones on here were against the hire, or at least moved into a wait-and-see mode on it. The only ones that were pro-Holland are the ones that are still koolaid drinkers to this day. Oddly, they haven't posted much over the last 20 games or so. |

The only problem with whatever move the Oil make with regards to a goalie is that they have to get MK's cap hit off the books to make that happen, so he will have to be included in the deal. TSN keeps mentioning Dallas but since the Stars already have 3-4 goalies, they don't need another one coming back in a deal.
The Oil have to make a move - ANY move - in net. It can be a lateral move or a risky move but they have to make it. Just by making a move, the Oilers send a message and it will buy them time. At least show their fanbase they are trying.
Really surprised Tippett hasn't been fired yet.
How bout:
Oilers: MK and a 3rd rd
Sens: Forsberg (with half retained). Maybe plus a player (lots of Left D...Josh Brown? MDZ? Gaudette?) also with half retained?
Just the goalie swap alonr would free up approx. $3 million in cap space. Then the Oil can do something like include Mike Smith in a deal for a longer term goalie option. Smith and 1st for a goalie.
Just a thought. |

Perhaps you don't read English so well. or understand it. Oilers fans are accepting of the goalie situation until the coaching/management situation is solved. This team is not playing for their coach. not accepting his systems. Smith-Koskinen-Skinnner have a leash about 20000000x as long as Tippett-Holland. |

When the Oil hired Nicholson I thought it was a smart move. Bring in a guy with a good pedigree with Hockey Canada, knows the game and can steer the direction away from the old boys club mentality that obviously persists. I didn't think Tippet was a bad choice for a coach either, perhaps a bit old school for the players on the roster but and X's an O's structured guy. Holland was a head scratcher but at least he was experienced albeit from a by-gone era of hockey. Chiarelli left a mess but Holland perpetuated that. Just odd decisions and perplexing signings. Some good but nothing that really supported the two superstars. Edmonton isn't the first team to have the best players on the planet, the recipe for success does exist but seems to avoid the Edmonton Oilers inbox (or thought process). Most of you guys were in sheer WTF mode with the off-season stuff. The team caught fire to start the season but since then? As much as we like to poop on you guys (and you us), its a better division when the Oil are relevant.
So, do you guys think the season can be salvaged? Beating the Flames Sat would (well should) be a catalyst or are you guys sticking a fork in it regardless of the outcome? |

Team has given up on coach and coach has given up on team. I'm guessing it's one of the softest BoA of all time. 4-1 maybe 4-0 flames. Unless Tippett is fired beforehand. |

The game is ultimately about the players. A coach can motivate them for a certain period, but the guys on the ice have to play.
The bottom half of this roster is total crap! They are the types of guys that get let go in the NHL and play overseas for 10yrs. They're not great players and they are certainly not the type of warriors to retire because they worked so hard and their bodies are failing. in 10yrs, most of our bottom 6 will be playing in something like Swiss Div2.
We can analyze to death who the new managers and x's and o's guys are, but I think we need to go out and get the players.

Sceviour
Turris

After Sceviour's "battle" in front of an open cage like that....he should never play in the league again, pathetic!
Let's get serious...who the ''fsnlhk" are these guys?!?!?
very frustrating.

By the way, how much has this team changed without the under-appreciated 200ft game of RNH?
Can we please give this guy the 2C job, exchange either one of the top 2 (I obviously would go with Leon, but whatever) and get some actual top 3 elite wingers!?!?!
Leon is amazing! a generational talent....I don't completely disagree, but what if we could have had....say Makar and Landeskog, or Jones and Liane, or Marner and Reilly, or Duschesne and Josi, or Eichel and Dahlen, Tkachuk and Chabot....etc. etc. etc. ( I know some are C's but just to prove a point)
Maybe they've explored these things but our GENERATIONAL TALENT ELITE 2C is not doing things that a cup contender does, and we're paying a very capable 3C over $5M.
You could maybe even solve the tender situation in there too...who knows.
Sorry boys, I love his offense but Leon's not cutting it if this team wants to get to the next level. |

Honestly to break into hockey when he didn't even play at a professional level is crazy. It's by far one of hockey's biggest issues. Unless you're an upper middle class family, you haven't the slightest of chances to play in the NHL. Just the equipment cost alone for a child that's growing up is insane.
Look at soccer, you'll have to buy cleats and shin guards, that's it. - Oilers4Life14
Yep. You can count those poor soccer players off on one hand...you know...when you count everyone in the world and all of the top players. |

Could get a lot of futures from Drais and Mcdavid

I think many of you need this, soon.
Prep H works on saddle sores because it shrinks swollen tissue and soothes pain. Apply it five minutes before slathering on your chamois cream and putting on your shorts. Also try a dab on sores after rides to dull discomfort. |
