Farabee to IR UBI. Out a month. A bigger disgrace by the hour. - PLindbergh31
I want them to lose out for the rest of the season. I want the Flyers to be the clear cut worst hands-down, most horrible team in the league and get saddled with like the 4th overall pick and still miss on that pick somehow. Haha it's actually fun now to completely commit to rooting against this team. |

What they have done really doesn't matter. The GM made this team worse is what matters.
Haag = RR. - hello it's me 2050
RR is a much better player for a playoff ready team than Haag will ever be |

Because the Flyers have me in a depressed state, I was wondering how things have gotten so bad in a 2 season span? I know they exceeded expectations when they went to the 2nd round and lost to the Islanders in the "bubble", but I'm not sure many of us expected this! I took a deep dive into the Flyers roster and looked at several things; who drafted/acquired the players, what round they were drafted, where they play in the lineup (Top 6/Bottom6, 1st/2nd Pair/3rd Pair) and whether they are exceeding, meeting or below expectations (which is obviously subjective).
Fletcher is responsible (draft/trade/FA signing) for 16/28 (57%) of the current players on the roster. 1 is exceeding expectations (York), 7 are meeting expectations and 8 are below, for essentially a 50/50 split. 2 are top 6 forwards, 6 bottom six forwards and 2 1st/2nd pair defensemen, 5 3rd pair defensemen and 1 goalie.
Hextall is responsible (draft/trade/FA signing) for 9/28 (32%) of the current players on the roster. 4 players are meeting expectations and 5 are below expectations for a 50/50 split yet again. 3 Top 6 forwards, 3 Bottom 6 forwards, 2 1st/2nd Pair Defensemen and 1 goalie.
Homer and Clarke have a total of 3 players (Giroux, Couturier and Laughton) remaining on the team of the 28 total (10%). 2 of which are meeting expectations and 1 who is not. 2 are top 6 forwards and the other is a bottom 6.
Based on this information the majority of the poop show that has become the Flyers can be equally blamed on both Fletcher and Hextall. They both made poor FA signings/trades and had inadequate drafts. There are 14 first round picks on the team at the moment and only one of them is exceeding expectations (York). I can't definitively say, like some on this forum, that it's more one GM than the other who should bear the brunt of the blame. IMHO, they both have performed below expectations and until they start drafting/developing better, we'll be in for an almost unwatchable product on the ice! - aantny88
How are you setting the bar for meeting or not meeting expectations? How are you determining the expectations for each player?

What you are talking about is a coaching issue not a 4th line personnel issue.
We discussed the PP previously, and I wanted them to try Risto at net front. But most thought that net front isn’t the issue. I threw MacEwen’s name out as if just anyone would work. Immediately someone said that he doesn’t have the hands, and they are right at present. This has been a longer look than they gave most options. Time to give someone else a look.
Net front isn’t the only issue, but I think it’s the one they need to fix first. These PP issues aren’t new. If it’s a personnel issue, it has been a few years now that Fletcher could fix it. If they bet on Allison, bring him up then. There are a couple other youngsters they haven’t tried at all. - NC Flyers Fan
How is that net front is the issue they need to fix first when they can't enter the zone and establish puck possession consistently and they don't get the puck to the net with any consistency on the PP? With the way the Flyers PP is right now, they could get the best net front PP guy in the league and it wouldn't matter.

Based on what? RR playoff experience....
RR is 3rd pair dman. Would I take him over hagg, yes. He isn't worth his contract or what was paid to acquire him.

I think the Flyers PP woes start with faceoffs. G just loses too many faceoffs and where they should be starting with possession in the offensive zone, the Flyers are constantly chasing the puck down the ice and losing 30 seconds in the process. I do think the Flyers are entering the zone OK, not great, and setting up but its what they are doing after this that bothers me ... its basically nothing. There is no movement of players, no passes designed to create odd man situations and shooting lanes, no creativity, no purpose! Just mindless passes from one Flyers' player to the next from what I can tell. York to G, back to York, back to G, for a shot that deflects out of play, rinse, repeat! That is the Flyers PP in a nutshell these days.
Net front presence only matters if you actually shoot the puck and get pucks on net, and the Flyers do a piss poor job in this department. I wonder if there is a stat for PP shots, because I bet the Flyers are near the bottom of this statistic also. |

So when do the Phantoms play the Sabres? |
|
|
|
Put Hayes Ellis and ex selk on IR. This I assume opens up tons of cap space. This may allow the Flyers to take back some contracts (expiring ones) to facilitate trades. Need those extra picks and prospects... |

I disagree because if they could score on their albeit few chances, it’s a big boost to work on the details to get to the shot part.

Allison has goals in 3 consecutive games so I expect he will be called up if he hasn't been already. |

The problem is this is not the year to tank ... I will take a top 5 pick this year and then go all in tank mode to try to get the top pick next year and get Connor Bedard. Then we will have a future to look forward to as Flyers fans. |
