Players I’d keep:
Hart
York
Farabee
Frost
Couturier
and anyone else drafted from 2019 on

Players I’d consider moving in the right deal:
Sanheim
Provorov
Konecny
Lindblom
Laughton
Atkinson
Ellis (if he ever gets healthy)
Player I’d move if he’s willing to go:
Giroux

Players I’d actively look to trade:
Braun
JVR
Jones
Risto
Hayes (if he ever gets healthy)

Player I’d bury in a swamp
Yandle

- BiggE

Only reason you keep Frost right now is he has likely terrible trade value. YOu hope and pray he can be a solid /nhl player.

Seems to me they have already soured on him and he isnt in any plans going forward.

Hart York Joel only ones I don't move unless great deal. Everyone else open season. DJ hunting, never fronting.

They have major PP issues and one of the attributing factors to not scoring is the net front. Some guys even JVR have been really inconsistent in screening the opposing goalie. Some options maybe haven’t been large enough to do that effectively. Or strong enough to win battles for rebounds (not that there’s a ton of those). Some aren’t adept at deflections.

Have shot attempts on the PP gone down significantly this season? It certainly feels like it so where are the numbers for it…

- NC Flyers Fan

It's barking up the wrong tree. Simply not a major factor. Zone entries, quick puck movement and player movement are by far the main issues.

I agree with him.

"The New York Rangers are playing well and are expected to be a buyer at the deadline. Former New York Rangers defenseman Tom Laidlaw said on our podcast this week that he thinks it would be better for the organization long-term to let this group sink or swim together. Laidlaw likes the Rangers’ chemistry. He believes they will learn from the experience. The only player he would add is a depth defenseman. Is he right or wrong?"

He is neither right nor wrong.

Giroux has taken 90 PP faceoffs. He was won 59 and lost 31. What's that percentage? 62%, which is outstanding.
- MJL

I think he was better earlier in the season, but lately he has been poop. JJ and Jones mentioned this last night also, that the Flyers are losing too many PP faceoffs. Jones mentioned it takes 20 seconds off the clock, but I think it takes closer to 30 seconds off for the Flyers.

You seriously have to consider the issues this team has had in developing defenseman. You put Provorov on Carolina or Florida and he's a stud defenseman that would be coveted. Would have to be a deal too good to turn down to move him.

The reason they aren't scoring on the PP is not due to the net front player. They have major issues on the PP. Net front is not one of them.
- MJL

The reason is because the not only is the PP predictable, but it is poorly executed. They do the same formations and plays every time, which if executed at a high level wouldn't matter. (see Ovechkin blasting one timers in Washington).

But since they neither vary their attack nor execute very well, its a lost cause.

It's the same reason why LA didn't trade Kopitar when they weren't good. You gotta keep somebody around who can play and anchor the skaters so the kids don't get reamed.

I think he's a Phaneuf, McDonagh, JBo, Tyler Myers level defenseman. Very good, but not good enough to build a team around. He would make a great wing man to somebody like Hedman or Ekblad.

NAK with 13 points in 26 games for Colorado. Maybe they could have tried him netfront on PP2 if they hadn't waived him while keeping MacEwen and Thompson.
- Feanor

Colorado is a better hockey team than us. They score. They’re going to make the playoffs. Name a fourth liner. Any fourth liner. Have them spend one season with this group and than have them play for Colorado. The results are obviously going to be what you’re currently looking at.

Feelings I can see. Eyeballs really depend greatly on whose eyes they are. Some think Ristolainen is the Flyers best defenseman and one of the best in the league. McEwen makes a huge impact, etc.
- MJL

There was a time this year, a stretch of about 10 games, where Risto was far and away the Flyers best defenseman. He may still be given how bad everyone except York is playing, especially your boy Provorov. And as far as MacEwen, I am well in the majority of opinions that believe he has made a positive impact on this team and many would like to see him stay with the Flyers next year. Instead of immersing yourself in 4th line possession metrics, spend some time actually watching him play. He is a 4th line energy guy, nothing more, but he does a good job with it for the most part.

How old was Kopitar? They were not "building" while he was 30 years old. They were not 5 years away when he will be 35.

You then go get vets to fill that void. Keeping him allows you to not be terrible. See CC. That isn't what this team needs. There is little value to keeping him unless you are going to build around him,

edit: thought you meant cup years. forget first paragraph. I still do not keep him

I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t have very many issues with Ristolainen. Do I think he’s one of the best in the league? No. Do I think he’s the best defenseman on this team? Nope! I look at him as no different than Nicolas Grossmann, Luke Schenn or denis gauthier. He just adds an element we were desperately missing last season.

Risto, MacEwan…we’re notably tougher, finally and we’re still complaining.

When looking at players like Frost and York, it's really far too soon to judge that in my opinion. Statistical averages in my opinion are a poor way to set the bar for expectations. Personal expectations are of course different from the consensus expectations for a player from the hockey community.
- MJL

whats your projection on Frost? 1C? 2C? 3C?

You need proof that JJ and Jones mentioned this last night during the broadcast, I guess go watch the game on ESPN+. You need proof about G losing PP faceoffs lately, not sure if they track faceoffs 5v5, SH and PP and then see it per game. Last night he as 13/20 on FOs, not bad, but what he did on the PP I can't find. All I can tell you is what I notice while watching the team play.

Not next to, he is completely unmovable. I wonder if he is the next buyout by whoever is the next GM.

Yes but we gave up a marginal NHL defenseman and Zak Rosen to get Risto, so that makes the trade unacceptable no matter what Risto does or doesn't do.
