2 ten game loosing streaks. Pure indictment on the garbage captain. Even the worst team in the league doesn’t loose 10 in a row

I have been a fan on the Flyers since their cup years. I have lived through some bad teams in the early 90's and in 2007. But I have never lived through a Flyers team this bad in all my years of a fan. Its bad enough to watch this team blow grade A scoring chance after grade A chance with shots into the goalies pads or wide of the net, but the constant bad defensive plays they make that end up with goals against is just over the top. Last night 0-0 game in the 2nd Provorov, who many on this forum say is our best defenseman, has the puck in his left corner and decides to force a pass up to Laughton who is clearly covered instead of either 1. skating with the puck or 2. passing the puck to Lindblom who is wide open on his right in the middle of the ice. Of course Laughton gets his pocket picked and Bjorkstrand walks right in and scores! How many times do I have to watch this every single game, a Flyers defenseman has the puck and tries to force it up to a covered forward at their own blueline that results in a turnover. Its embarrassing now, it really is, that a professional hockey team keeps making the same mistakes over and over, and I'm tired of watching it!

Some observations? If you didn't know any better and just turned on the game you would have thought that tonight's game was played in mid September(exhibition game). Place looked empty unless lots of folks were dressed as empty seats. Never thought I'd see such an empty arena for a regular season hockey game in Philly. Pretty brutal game for Provorov. This team just generally lacks top level skill. Did Frost play tonight? This kid is the epitome of invisible. Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

JJ and Jones were honest tonight in their assessment of Frost, stating what I have been stating about Frost this season, that the kid is invisible and has been given a chance and he just has not taking advantage of it. They also mentioned Yeo thinks he is fighting a lack of confidence. I don't know but he had better figure this out ASAP because its really concerning to me. The team is going no where, there should be absolutely no pressure on Frost; he should be able to go out there and play as free as could be!

It’s so hard to watch this team day in and day out. Been watching them since I was a little kid, and have never seen a team with less creativity, physicality and bite to their game. Did anyone watch the Rangers/Leafs game last night? What a game! It was loud and two teams that wanted to win that game. Feels like forever since we had a game like that in Philly.
- HockeyLifer

Watched that game the difference in the skill levels between Flyers and Rangers is amazing. Rangers have a Vezina goalie...a Norris D man and a top 5 Hart guy in panarin. Not to mention Kreider and Zibanejad up front and a bunch of young high end prospects at foward and even more on D. All in 3 yrs . It can be done here but we need someone who knows how to orchestrate it and Fletch and the old Flyer croonies ( Clarke..Homer..Brown..etc) arent the answer. Has to start with a compete organizational flush

Say what you will about the Flyers draft history… I’m excited for trade deadline and the upcoming draft. We should be able to move some players for picks. I’d retain salary where needed or take back an RFA cap dump. We have some good depth pieces for contending teams. Here’s the what I’m hopeful for in return:

Giroux: a first, maybe a 3rd, big body D-prospect.
Brassard: 3rd round pick.
Risto: 1st (or second and prospect)
Braun: 2nd round pick.
Yandle: 3rd or 4th round pick.
Thompson(if healthy): 5th rounder
Jones: 3rd round pick.

Would anyone consider moving JVR to Calgary for Lucic and a 1st or high end prospect? I’d retain the difference if the picks or prospects make sense. I think JVR fits nicely on Calgary, and could fill in a large hole if Gaudreau walks. Flyers will not be competing for a cup next year, so I’m okay bringing in an expensive enforcer to watch the kids. Sign Morin too if he wants to play again… and let’s hope he stays healthy.
Maybe Bedard is on our radar next year!

Calgary isn't doing that deal.

Not sure why we are complaining. This team has been out of a playoff spot for a while. Losing is in the Flyers best interest and it is not like people here arent rooting for the losses.

The fact Fletcher has done nothing is telling to what he thinks of the team. He said he still hasnt been able to evaluate the team but that isnt it. At any point during the season Fletcher could have made moves to salvage the season yet he has chosen not to. That to me is a good sign.

Yeo is Interim head coach and should stay until the offseason. Status quo and get the better pick. Maybe we can win the lottery and get Wright. Only issue is many scout appear to think he is going to be a very good player but not great.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Fletcher couldn't "save" this team for the last 3 years. Now he could've made moves to salvage the season at any point during the season?

He may have been able to make a move just to make one but there isn't much of a trade market right now. People are complaining because they want to be entertained.

Think you are over valuing many of the UFA's and what they will bring
Giroux..IF HE AGREES TO BE MOVED..late 1st and mid level prospect
Brassard ..maybe a 5th
Risto...could possibly get a 1st but more like 2nd and mid level prospect
Braun..agree a 2nd
Yandle and Thompson..a 7th at best
Jones ..maybe a 3rd or 4th

Why would Calgary gives us a 1st or high end prospect for a Lucic/JVR trade??

Do not see a 3rd for Brassard. Maybe a 5th
Yandle may get you future consideration.
Braun 3rd/4th
Nate lol...Nate will be an assistant coach next year for the flyers. Or at a minimum have a job in the orginization.

JVR aint going anywhere at this time.

Why would Calgary give up a 1st in that deal? The rest of your expected returns are a little high.

When is the coaching staff going to change the breakout scheme? When Provorov made his initial look, Laughton was wide open. Columbus was changing and a player jumped off the bench last second and challenged Laughton.

Did you also happen to here Jonsey state that Frost is a top 6 player and needs to play with top 6 players?

The stat line for when Frost was on the ice last night

CF% 66.67% Scoring chances 6-2 in favor of the Flyers. xGF% 61.91

Frost didn't stand out but he made a few plays and he certainly wasn't awful

The play was right in front of Provorov, he has got to be smarter than that. The right play was to Lindblom to his right, it was clear as day! I can't blame the coaches when you have an experienced defenseman making this type of play.

Yes, I heard Jones state he has top 6 potential and should be playing in the top 6, but I took that as an indictment on Frost for not doing what is necessary to play in the top 6 on this team right now, and not an indictment against the coaching.

When you see the replay from behind Provorov, which was shown, it was exactly as I said it was. The Blue Jacket jumped off the bench last second. How can you not blame the coaches when game after game after game, the Flyers keep the puck along the wall and every single team tailors their forecheck to jump the play and cut off the boards. With no fear that the Flyers will beat them using the middle of the ice?

No one will buy this team because Comcast owns the arena. They are very very unlikely to give that up as it is a money maker.

So why would any person want to be a tenant instead of having their own arena? Sixers have issues with that now. Why they want their own arena.

The team has just lost 10 in a row .. AGAIN ... they scored 1 goal against a very bad Columbus team ... they once again made another mediocre goalie look like Patrick Roy, and you want me to get excited about a kid's Corsi??? How many shots on goal did Frost get? How many goals did his line score to help the team win? The Flyers PP was again 0 for 4, what did Frost do on the 2nd PP unit to actually generate a scoring chance? Sorry, I could care less about his possession numbers!

It's hard. Enjoy total off-days on the schedule. Plan stuff to do with my wife and kids when I get back. Commiserate with colleagues and with Flyers Alumni guys (most of whom still follow and care about the team, even ones who say they don't care anymore). Watch the Phantoms, who have turned things around a bit although it's a fragile turnaround. Watch a junior game, alternatively. Work on the Joe Watson book a bit.

Case in point: In the third period, he got out one shift with Giroux and suddenly came alive.
