Why? This honestly makes zero sense unless something is bothering Shesty.

This or maybe there is the thought of back to back nights, #1 gets the home game and #2 gets the road.

Sure, maybe if the opponents were equal.

It's almost like Gallant is just playing up when he was quoted saying this is just another game.

He must be related to the Isles "fans" that thought Trotz should be fired earlier this season

1st
top (or close to it) prospect
+ ?

Getting 2 playoff runs out of him would be huge for the acquiring team. Nobody here really wants to lose JT. But Jimbo left this team heavily flawed and short of picks and futures. Plus, they're not winning the Cup anytime soon.

JT would go a long way in restocking the cupboards. But, can't be a full on rebuild. So this is gonna be a delicate dance for the real Trader Jim.

There should be a ton of teams who would want to add JT. That and his cap hit should help the return.

If it works, he looks like a genius but even it it doesn't, the team has Shesterkin going the next night at home.

Sure, but if you reverse it they have a good chance of going 2 for 2 on the back to back. Now it's a lesser chance of doing the same thing.

Georgiev has been much better as of late but this is still a head scratcher decision.

I think its smart at this time of the year- If we win we beat them with our back up and if we lose well we didnt have our best player.

and Georgie could poop the bed against the yotes

I point out again, I don't think Shesty has played more than 50ish games at any level. We just got so spoiled by Hank playing 70+, we don't know what to do when the coach probably rightfully doesn't play Shesty too many games.

Maybe I'm weird, but I'm ok punting this game if it means we have Shesty for games that we should win in net.

lets play the game 1st...... Georgie showed he was serviceable with Shesty out. Not everything is the end of the world.

I have no problem punting a game but not THIS game! We are trying to show we can beat the better teams in the league and this is the first game against the canes this year in their barn! To me it’s a statement game that shesty HAS to play! The fact that gallant is starting Georgie doesn’t smell right but I hope Georgie stands on his head and we beat the canes anyway!

Seems like the Rangers are doing (the reverse of) what the Islanders are doing. Start your #1 against the weaker team to do your best to guarantee a win and play the backup against the better team so the worst case for the weekend is a wash. Isles have Sorokin going tonight against the Yotes and Varly tomo against the Leafs

I hope he beats the Canes too. But let's say before this announcement, someone guaranteed you 2 points from this back to back, you'd probably take that right? I don't care about beating the Canes in January. I want to make sure we don't run our tender into the ground so we can beat the Canes in May.

Gallant employing a next level Jedi mind trick: this is not the goalie you are looking for!

I'd say Sorokin is your clear #1 now. I do think the Isles have been smart that they have a capable two goalie system, as Sorokin is probably like Shesty in that he will never play 70+ games.

Getting a better backup goalie wouldn't be a terrible move for us.

Can’t argue with you I guess I’m just being selfish I REALLY want to slap the canes!
