Both you and Jason do good work. Keep it up. You guys provide along with Charlie provide the most realistic thoughtful views. Don’t always agree, but that’s sports. - landros 2

Well at least we have Fletch to bring this all home.
The same GM who signed Chris Stewart out of the EIHL.
The EIHL.
And then not only had him on the roster but also saw him get into a few NHL games.
And then hired, Chris Stewart of the EIHL, as a PLAYER DEVELOPMENT COACH. - FloHaake
Stewart is no longer with the organization. |

Does that absolve fletcher of signing him in the first place?
Does it absolve giving him a job in the organization after the abject failure of signing him as a player?
I don't think it does |

Everyone's over reacting. We have had 2 bad stretches where we lost 10 in a row and 11. Take those 2 streaks out and we are 13-7.. just 2 bad streaks. |

It's just sad that people are still talking about a guy who played 16 games here with very limited ice time. I agree that Fletcher has made some bad moves but why are we still complaining about Chris Stewart? Role players are part of hockey. Other teams give players chances too...it doesn't always work out.

Bill doesn’t have to tell me they suck….I can figure that all out on my own. We can all argue about why we are here till we are blue in the face, but I’m more concerned with what’s next. There is so much blame to go around, to point the finger at any one move, trade, draft pick or person is beyond stupid. Bill does and should remain objective. I’m not sure what some expect beyond stating the obvious…he has to work with all theses guys that he’s expected to be overly critical of? This team is in a downward spiral and as G alluded today at “rock bottom”. I’m sure Bill has his personal opinions, but this is professional Bill that we get. I hope he keeps up the good work. - landros 2
I don't expect him to tell me whats next either. Divulgence of what he knows/intuits in that area is also subject to the same pressures you speak of in your post.
But yeah, I agree with the spirit of everything you wrote. His position is hardly unusual. If I start ranting publicly about the many bad things about my place of work, around the time of my next contract I will get a very thin envelope and a 1 page letter. |

My view? Chris Stewart is a microcosm of much of the issues this organization has had.

Fletcher was that kind of hire as well. Chris Stewart didn’t set this franchise back at all, but do you understand my point? |

Why not bring this up? It is symbolic of his moves as GM of the Flyers. He makes terrible decisions, whether trades or player signings. Do you trust him going forward? |

Hakstol has coached more games in franchise history than any coach since Keenan. How pathetic is that? |

We already know that's what they're going to do. If they trade Giroux and Ristolainen, does anyone believe that they will sit on that cap space? - MJL

It's indicative of the overall judgement of the GM. No different than waiving a more talented Aube Kubel in favor of less talented waiver claims.

I’m 56 years old, my first live in person Flyers game was at 4 years old during Clarke’s rookie season. I love the guy, but he needs to go. MJL was spot on earlier, the entire front office from Scott down to the assistant GMs need to go. So do the coaches, trainers, medical staff and developmental staff.
The organization is a complete disaster. Chuck Fletcher, whether it was at the orders of Dave Scott or not, thoroughly wrecked this team with his horrid off season moves and by overpaying for players, especially Hayes.
I have seen this team struggle and face adversity before. The 1979 playoffs were agonizing and the flameouts of 1981-1984 were terribly disappointing. I suffered through anguish of Pelle’s death, the heartbreak that was game 7 of the 87 SCF, the barren years of 89-94, the mess that was the Lindros saga, the tragic death of Tertyshny, the 2002 player revolt, the injuries and frustration of the 2004 playoffs, the 06-07 debacle, the maddening Hakstol years and of course, the passing of Ed Snider.
Yet, I’ve never felt the sense of hopelessness that I feel right now. This organization is broken at the most fundamental level. No trade, draft pick, or free agency is going to fix this. There is no magic cure. The entire franchise needs to be rebuilt from the top down. It will take time, but failure to recognize this is inexcusable. Comcast, I implore you: clean house or find someone to buy the franchise. The team, as it currently stands, does not deserve our loyalty and support. The ball is in your court, Mr. Roberts. - BiggE
I'm 51 and I feel the exact same way. |

Yes, i understand but all teams make bad moves. It's a part of sports. Not every signing works out and not all players can be elite. When Stewart was here, people were acting like he was why we stunk because of his 7 minutes of ice time. It's 2 years later and we still stink. We just aren't a good team. I am by no means a Fletcher fan but harping on him signing Stewart for league minimum is pointless.

It's not being harped on. It was brought up as another issue and bad move the GM has made among many.
