Hakstol had a .560 points%
Vigneault had a .564 points%
Who had the better roster?
Not saying Hakstol shouldn't have been fired sooner but I don't know how much more he could have gotten out of the roster he had some of those years. - rayc16
Hakstol was not the awful coach that many made him out to be.

Coots has been put on LTIR. He must be going to get surgery. - Hextall271
With the injury to Farabee, the Flyers did that to call up Allison and to max out available cap space in case of more injuries. Couturier can be retroactively placed on LTIR. |

The last GM drafted a player who was a consensus top 2 pick who everyone labeled a future #1 NHL center and many labeled as the most NHL ready player in the draft. - MJL
He wasnt a consensus #2 if our own scouts didnt even want him at #2. They did their homework for scouting. They were over ruled.

Every 5 Things game preview I write -- which goes on the team website and goes in depth-- is critical in a stick to the facts way. Every Postgame 5 analysis portion is critical. Every Flyers Daily I've done with Jason the last two months has been critical. - bmeltzer
Bill there is a difference between being objectively critical, which you have consistently been, and insanely hysterical which most of the posters on here are on a daily basis. No you're not going to call for Dave Scott and Fletcher to be fired, and for all the hockey alumni to keep their mouths shut and bud out, because that is not a rational course of action and really not your job at the end of the day. Instead you are going to write about the games as you see them and discuss options, which you do with Jason Myrtetus every week, and I look forward to that! Keep it up Bill, you are a treasure! |

So what you're stating here is that anyone calling for Fletcher and Scott and the alumni to be removed, are being insanely hysterical? That it's not a rational course of action? |

Is it only for cap reasons or is there some movement on the plan is for him? I keep waiting for the announcement that he’s have core surgery and will be out 3 months. |

You're right, if we had only kept Hextall and Hakstol together, we would all be celebrating a Cup by now ... tisk tisk ...
Is it relevant to you that after Hakstol was fired he went to Europe to work with Mike Babcock to learn how to coach NHL players?? Literally took a class!! |

The sad truth is that as bad as those teams were, they didn’t lose 10 in a row 3 times in 2 years nor did they miss the playoffs back to back. |

This is a insanely hysterical reaction to a simple post that Hakstol was a better coach than many made him out to be.
Why would it be a black mark against anyone, in any profession to attempt to learn and better himself in any manner?

Hasktol coached a team that had one line, one defense pairing and a vet checking center to the playoffs. He got more out of a far less talented team than the more recent coaches did with far more talented teams.

No. I was very much willing to give fletch a chance. I just want to see the team succeed. But despite me being optimistic about most of the moves fletch made and wanting to give it a chance, we’re in a worse spot than we were. This is the worst team I have watched as a flyers fan and that includes the 06/07 team. It’s comical. |

Its not a rational course of action IMO. Dave Scott is going nowhere, and any thoughts of thinking Comcast would fire him is insane and honestly a waste of your fingers. Also I can't see Fletcher being fired, though I bet there is a small chance. As I told you all yesterday, there is no way a President and GM can survive seasons like the last two, Covid or not. If Dave Scott is truly a person of action, which he told us all he is, I expect front office changes. I expect Fletcher to be retained similar to how Homer was retained when Hextall was brought in, and a new GM named in the off season. That GM hires the coach, makes some moves and we go into next season with a fresh start. That to me would be a rational course of action. |

Expecting Scott to be fired and wanting Scott to be fired are two different things. How can you not know that.
Keeping Fletcher as President of hockey operations is not a change. It's kicking the can down the road.
As far as your comment that those calling for the changes are being insanely hysterical. Someone who had made the comments that you have made in the past, including recently that have been ridiculously wrong, has no standing to make such comment. It's a long, long list.

Not all of it, but he’s been here for how long now? 3 years. The vast majority of this poop storm is on him. He put his stamp on the team last summer and it’s been a catastrophic failure. I don’t think you can argue the last point.
To be clear, I was very much hoping for fletch to be successful. I actually thought after 2020 that we would build on success and March toward being a consistent contender. I didn’t see this downturn coming especially with the moves this summer which I thought were logical. |

You just made a post about people wanting Scott and the Alumni removed. Now here you are insinuating that Fletcher is being blamed for all of this. That's what is comical

I’m not sure that’s what he said…he mentioned the Kravstov Ranger connection and also mentioned a team with the mix I mentioned…at least that’s how I interpreted it. |

I want them to succeed. I’m
Not cheering for fletcher to fail but what I think is ridiculous is absolving him when he’s been here 3 years and made moves enough to put a stamp on the team. He’s accountable for this mess |

Last week it was Clarke…lol. Some just can’t look at the whole thing. This organization down fall has been a decade long process where they never got better, whiffed on some draft picks, had some bad signings and over all made some poor decisions.
I’m not saying Hextall didn’t do some good things, I’m not saying Fletcher didn’t attempt to right the ship. But results matter…and the both of them made enough blunders to share in this. |
