All in all though, if I was to use our 1st round picks the next 2 years, Id go Miller and Pavelski/Giroux over Chychrun. - aecliptic
We're in agreement here. We spent years stockpiling D just so we would have a chance to develop our own Chychurn. Who is to say within a season or two, one of our youngsters just would not be that good anyway? Aren't we supposed to let them grow into the role?
Center we have no obvious answers. Much easier thing to address.

Exactly!! The need is to grab a third line center if Chyil cant cut it, which so far he hasnt. |

I think we have to be very concerned about whether or not Strome decides to go get paid. Then were without a 2nd and 3rd line center. |

I think strome will give us a hometown discount he’s always said how much he wants to be in New York now it’s time to show it. Take a pause for the cause! |

It would have to be an extremely generous discount because I think he could easily pull in 6.5m on the open market. |

Chytil has shown that he can't be a top 3 center, and IMO he doesn't do enough on the boards, down deep, or w/ -w/out the puck.
Trade package combos inclduing:
Chytil
Kravs
Gaut
Lundqvist
Jones
(maybe k. Miller)
and draft picks .....should be more than enough to bring in a top 9 RW and top 6 dman.
I still don't think any center "available" is better than Strome. NYR should focus on a 3rd line center who has a $$/term that allows Strome to be resigned. Gerorgiev should be off the table as well this season. Maybe explore trading him this summer, IF another solid #2 goalie is in system or can be had elsewhere |

It sounds like Gallant is giving serious consideration to playing with 11 forwards and 7 D tonight. He hinted at one of the defenseman being "banged up" and said he liked the way it worked against Arizona with Rooney rotating between the third and fourth lines. #NYR |

My proposal was for Dylan Strome (and De Haan).
Our problem is an offer sheet on Kakko. Weve got no wiggle room. |

Kakko hasn't shown anything consistently enough to warrant another team offering him a $$/term that would preclude NYR from matching. If a team does offer kakko something like a 5yr/4-5 mill deal....well ...then see ya later |

Anything over 3m and us being able to match dwindles if were planning on resigning Strome. |

I see a 2 yr/2 mill bridge deal....w/ some incentives. Same w/ Laf when his ELC ends...unless they both show more.
The good thing for NYR is that they are winning w/out Kakko, Laf, Chytil, Miller doing all that much, so NYR doesn't really have to consider giving them long term deals. Bad thing is that NYR isn't winning anything unless they start putting some pucks in the net and adding some secondary scoring |
