Vendetta......seriously check where those players were developed, not here in Ottawa! You couldn't be more wrong, saying a few games for Batherson, Formenton and Brannstrom. You couldn't be more wrong man!
It was ALLLLLLLL Mann down in Belleville who developed Batherson for over 2 years....not a few games!
Formenton......76 games in Belleville, he still only has 62 NHL games under his belt.
Brannstrom......49 games in Belleville, 72 games NHL with Ottawa.
Norris.........56 games in Belleville, one full season in the AHL he had 61pts.
Batherson.....103 games in Belleville, 129 games in the NHL here in Ottawa.
So before you say something, check your stats, check to see WHO ACTUALLY developed these prospects....it wasn't DJ! It was all Mann!
Thomson has been developed in Belleville......50 games in Belleville, 38 points down in the AHL! Only 12 games here in Ottawa.
Sokolov, 62 games in Belleville over last year and this year, 46 points. Only 4 games in the NHL with Ottawa.
JBD, 18 games in Belleville, 8pts +5. 8 games this year, 4 games last year in the NHL with Ottawa.
This is the problem, DJ ruins some of these kids' confidence the way he JERKS them around. I am telling you, earlier in the season I spoke with someone who is part of player development here in Ottawa.......Stutzle, Formenton, and Brannstrom were all fed up with DJ! In fact, why do you think Brannstrom changed agents at the beginning of the season?! Check your facts before trying to tell me stuff that is far from the truth.
DJ has the 3 names you mentioned above all playing important minutes now here in Ottawa because of injury and covid, it wasn't because he wanted too......keep drinking the Dorion koolaid, then DJ found out that the 3 of them were far better than he gave them credit for. STUNNER! When fans and media were all over him for it. Thomson got time here for the same reasons when he was top 6 coming out of pre-season on the blueline. Both Thomson and Brannstrom were sent down due to waiver exempt deals on their ELC.....MDZ and Brown were taking their minutes here to start the season when both of the prospects outplayed the 2 vets in the pre-season.
It was DJ who was benching Formenton and Stutzle for 1 or 2 full periods a time for one mistake........Brannstrom being a healthy scratch or being sent back down to Belleville. DJ is sooooo over his head being a first-time HC but Ottawa paid him nothing. Let's face it we have a HC and GM who are probably the lowest paid in the league. - Kevin Francis
Kevin, don’t get into petty online arguments. It makes you seem unprofessional. Don’t feed the trolls, man! A quick paragraph showing him he’s statistically, factually wrong, is one thing. But that was one hell of a tangent, man. Lol

Hey guys. I haven’t been on the site in like 2 months. I’m only here to say that this is the worst officiating I’ve seen in recent memory. The Buffalo players could pull out weapons and attack us at this point, and nothing would happen. The second period picks right up where the first left off. Non-calls all over the place. Smfh - PavohnDatsvares
Agreed!! What's the point of having refs for this game! So frustrating !!

So Zirgenson stanchions Chabot with that little push at the end and Dell cheapshots batherson, may have torn his knee out, great job by the refs tonite - RyeDog13
Dont forget the charging on Gambrell! Dahlin completed ran him behind the net, no intent to play the puck either. This is awful!

Not just the plays that resulted in players hurt. There’s trips and hooks and interference all over the place. I guess because Ottawa is up 4-0 it’s not fair to give them any power plays. Have to give the poor Sabres a chance to get back in it. |

Omg that’s right! If he misses this special opportunity to be going to his first NHL All Star game…. Dell is gonna get his house egged. |

Yeah that elbow from Dell is *easily* a suspendable offence in my eyes. Shameful play. |

There’s something wrong with the game where clean hits have to be answered with fights and stuff that Dell pulled goes unaccounted for. No penalty on the play was embarrassing enough but very little attempt at retribution. Get some snow showers in there, long turns in the crease, etc. There were lots of ways to show some emotion. I get no one wants to hurt players/get suspended and the lopsided win was nice, but I was shocked at the lack of emotion going into the 2nd when your star player went down after such a cheap shot. Have to wonder if lack of fan energy had something to do with it, but man, sure felt some brawl energy once you saw the replay of that cheap shot. |

Yes i agree. I think if there would have been fans in the stands. The energy would have made Ottawa answer with some knuckle sandwiches. Its too bad no one did.
The only reason it did not happen, that i can think of. Is d.j gave strict orders not to do it.
Perplexing team attitude

Watching the Sens game, then the Jets game last night, my goodness, its awful with the fan thing. You could see a few Sabres players wearing team blue hoodies sitting behind one of the goals at the Sens game. I agree, fans in the stands, believe it or not might have made that hit last night turn into a full scale brawl. There was no energy on the ice, its just dreadful watching these teams play in empty buidlings.

Everyone keeps saying the game has changed, the metrics aren't the same when it comes to fighting, then why do they say the team with skill but toughness wins Cups? Teams that have those 3rd and 4th lines that can grind and intimidate the opposition get you over the hump to win a Cup.

That was the first game in years . That i actually felt engaged with dislike of the oppenent. And then the Sens did not answer. What a let down. I guess the W for a last place team was more important then team unity. ..perhaps that W will save d.j job. |

Come to think of it, it would have boosted Murray's stock tremendously if he had crossed the ice and dropped glove with Dell. I think fighting in hockey is pretty darn stupid in general, but if it's going to exist at all, I would perceive reacting to that egregious, dangerous BS a rare warrant for pugilistic response. Also - everybody remembers a goalie fight. Would have gone a way in warming Ottawa's players and fans to him given what's transpired. In hindsight a missed opportunity, IMO, though glass half empty I suppose the alternative is Murray ends up DiPietroing himself and would be worse off for it. Just wishing our good man Drake a speedy recovery - he's a rockstar and it's a shame his all-star ambitions were taken out by Buffalo's fifth string ECHL backup goalie. |

Fair enough. And a strong no to trading the HC and GM for yours lol. - Kevin Francis
Kevin you're fighting a losing battle when it comes to criticizing the Sens coaching. There's still a lots of love for DJ in this town. Lots of fans love their hard to play against beer league hockey. The media and the Sens marketing machine have a large part in it, they are the hope merchants. Example last night's game was a horror show but the media spins it into a classic victory and the charade continues.
Keep calling it the way you see it! |

I'll play devil's advocate.
I too was disgusted with Dell's "pick move".....Bath never saw it coming. At first, I too wanted to see some kind of epic crap kicking.
but play all that out.....at the beginning of the second you could see the ref talking to both benches. we'd be facing multiple suspensions today, possible injuries and for what? An empty building? Some perceived need to show emotion or stand up for a team mate. Lets get Don Cherry's opinion while we're at it. The game has changed. The NFL has changed. We don't hit goalies, quarterbacks anymore. They shouldn't get away with the double standard like Dell did. He SHOULD get 2 games for that. Maybe he won't but....nobody puts on "the foil" anymore |

If Razor had of been in last night, Dell would have left on a stretcher!!!! RIP to the toughest goalie of all time!! |
