The scouting departments, both amateur and professional, do need improvement.
I believe the Canucks do not scout nearly as much in certain parts of the globe, compared to other teams.
I doubt, after hearing what Rutherford said today, that that issue will be addressed under this regime.
We will see this upcoming draft. - Reubenkincade
There has been alot a lot of US & Sweden picks going on. Makes me wonder is if enough resources go into the CHL. |

Lastly on the hires…
Everybody is hung up on titles & less about their roles. Idgaf about what’s on a business card just like Friedman says. |

That is the part of the globe I was referring to.
For decades this team has missed out on players in their own backyard. |

That is a great condemning of past regimes. Ownership is most of the reason & of late lets hope that changes. |

All analytic type stats are flawed. Always interesting listening to an analytics person say how +/- is flawed, then go on and on and on about some other flawed stat.
+/- gives a quick overview of what happens when that player is on the ice and like all the fancy stats has many other variables that are not considered. - Reubenkincade
What flawed stat did I go on about? |

The history is not totally void of CHL players. But the players they’ve chosen from the CHL have been complete busts except for Bo Horvat. If you go back 20+ years you might include guys like Cooke or Sopel as hits but the quality is very poor beyond that. You can see why they would be a bit timid to dive into that pool again. |

Well JR isn’t the GM. Nothing to be worried about until they give us a reason to be worried - CanuckDon
Not worried at all. Just pointing out things.

Good, because…
Allvin sees Sedin brothers as big parts of Canucks' franchise moving forward

The ‘they’ you refer are no longer with the Canucks lol |

For the record I think JR will be fun but I know he came here because Pittsburgh was failing. I know he doesn't mind moving draft picks at all and we are not getting the cup winning JR. We are getting the guy who is past his prime but it won't be dull. This year he may stay still but next year I expect draft picks to be flying out the door. |

Best player available(according to your teams scouts) is fine by me. But yes, the scouting needs to be overhauled top to bottom. Would be nice to have some good CHL-based scouts for once. CHL picks have been trash outside of Bo and McCann. |

I know you called Benning trader Jim, but JR is the real trader Jim. The guy has traded away players and then traded for them back lol. I read that he traded Joe Corvo in CAR and then signed him back next summer as a UFA. The guy enjoys the art of trading for sure |

Big time. 2 first round picks only from 2014 until 2021
Kappanen he traded away then used a first round pick last year to get him back. |

I read into your post that JR’s past is what will happen here.
I’m not interested in worry warting about the future. I rather enjoy what is transpiring before casting shade. |

Did I say it would happen here or did I just point out his past. In my last post I said next year it could happen .
You mean casting shade like Petey needs to be traded? |

Well tbh not interested in history lessons. Alluding to the past & saying it has any bearing on the now is of no interest to me. This is totally different circumstances & his role as Pres has begun with hirings. Nothing more nothing less. Lets wait & see where it goes & have an open mind ok.
Asking you this…
Are you satisfied on the direction the team is heading in the front office? As in better than it was. |
