Well tbh not interested in history lessons. Alluding to the past & saying it has any bearing on the now is of no interest to me. This is totally different circumstances & his role as Pres has begun with hirings. Nothing more nothing less. Lets wait & see where it goes & have an open mind ok.
Asking you this…
Are you satisfied on the direction the team is heading in the front office? As in better than it was. - Nighthawk
Isn't that what I have been saying wait and see. I am not the one on here saying JR will fix everything . You have him pinned as a god damned miracle worker.
Am I satisfied with the team direction? I don't know !!!!
They have hired a bunch of no experience people and hired a president who threw away more draft picks than Benning has ever done. Benning threw away two first round picks since 2014 Rutherford has kept two first round picks since 2014.
As I said I am waiting and seeing but most of the stuff I am reading on here couldn't be any further than the reality . |

Should have just kept Benning. Ya'll going crazy over the new hires. Absolutely nothing has even happened.
Can we at least discuss whether the lotto line is back together once everyone is healthy?
Pearson going to be back with Horvat?
Who is going to win the Miller sweepstakes? |

Hardly. I stated no Pres for many months was utterly stupid. I don’t underestimate JR’s experience as in he will be better for us at BoG meetings & lobbying. He got himself autonomy that alone is a coup. Continuing from there he remade the front office & expanded it to unheard of levels here. That is current so the future is yet to be written. I’m not predicting nor will worry 1 iota on what is to come. What I CAN say is we have a vision & direction to follow. |

@Vantel
Adding to your edit why do you put all picks traded in the past by JR will be his doing ahead? He didn’t hire puppets. He said he wants input & diverse opinions. He’s not on record stating he is the man on all things. It’s a team in the front office. |

It would be nice to know why he left the Penguins. |

Idk know why BB puts the lotto line back together. Petey has to find consistency first.

Retirement? Idk just a guess til FA approached him. He got full autonomy so had to be the best reason. |

I call BS on getting full autonomy, there's no way FA isn't got major input, maybe not in the actual day-to-day decisions but there's no way he's not going to have final say otherwise. |

How do you know this with certainty ? The new guy has been on the job for 10 hours.
I will ask a serious question? Do you think old guys in their seventies are not set in their ways? He will mentor the new guy but being an old guy I know about stubbornness and it really is true ,you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

You are jumping the gun. It may be bigger and more diversified but it also has little to no experience at their current jobs. It could just mean more people asking what do I do.
Rutherford was a bit trigger happy in his last few years selling off draft picks just like Gillis and Bergevin. He also covered up scandals so tyrant might fit him also.
Again he comes with a clean slate so let's see how everyone does. - VANTEL
He's been hiring woman so he's probably well insulated here for his past support and indifference to woman beaters.

Pittsburgh drafted at # 58 this year and was their only pick in the top 100
The year before they drafted 52 nd and 77 in the top 100
The year before they drafted Samuel Poulin at 21 and Nathan Lagare at 77
So in the last three years they have drafted 5 players only in the top 100 of the three drafts . I don't believe any of their picks have been to great. One first rounder in three years. Sound familiar?
Edit : Rutherford joined Pittsburgh in 2014 and since that time Pitts has only had two first round picks. Kappanen in 2014 who they traded to the Leafs and traded back for with the 2020 first . The only other selection was three years ago for LHD Samuel Poulin. - VANTEL
Funny how almost no one wants to look at Rutherford's past when they keep talking about the new direction of this team and how excited there are for what he's done already.

Generally speaking old dogs are stubborn to the point of stupidity.
All I’m saying is it’s early on in this new regime & the real action is still to come |

The history is not totally void of CHL players. But the players they’ve chosen from the CHL have been complete busts except for Bo Horvat. If you go back 20+ years you might include guys like Cooke or Sopel as hits but the quality is very poor beyond that. You can see why they would be a bit timid to dive into that pool again. - bloatedmosquito
Obviously they have poop scouts in the CHL. |
