Read this on another site as an example of trade between Van and Boston... could see this working:
Boston acquiring Miller, Tucker Poolman, and a 2022 third-round-pick and Vancouver getting DeBrusk, Carlo, and a 2022 first-round-pick. - NewYorkNuck
That is an interesting trade, although, if any trade happens with Boston, I would like to see Brett Harrison involved. |

They can build around Hughes and Demko but one has to ask, how long before they want out if right after signing contracts the new management strips the team down and says we are looking ahead to a point when your contracts will almost be over... Demko will be in his 30's by then.

Trading Miller our best player overall tells the club another 'retool' or 'rebuild' is imminent. Not the right message at this time. If Miller goes no way Horvat resigns here which may be the case anyways. The time now is to bolster the D and move forward not circle the drain like the Flames since 2005. |

I don't understand the logic behind the statements that trading Miller would automatically mean rebuilding. If the team gets back player(s) that can insert into the lineup to fill holes (like the above Carlo trade), maybe on the whole it makes the team better?
What if Miller doesn't want to sign and then walks in FA? Does that tell the club rebuild? I think giving an 8 year contract to a 30 year old guy (when his current contract ends) is exactly circling the drain.
I'm actually curious how people think trading him signals a rebuild, so I'm all ears. |

Team is pretty fragile right now. Look at the crying and whining over losing Marky Tanev Toffoli and Stecher lol. Reality is Miller will probably be gone and that fine if the return is ok but don't be shocked if players decide to 'want out' based off the direction of the club. I'm ok with a strong 2-4 year plan but other than Rutherford we have alot of inexperience in upper MNGT yet again. Message to the players from the new GM needs to be clear...we are moving forwards and not backwards. Optics dude...optics.
Personally I wouldn't mind that trade with Boston but not sure how Carlo and Debrusk would make us 'better' over what Miller can offer. We do need a RHD however but guys like Carlo are a dime/dozen. |

A retool unless it’s goes further with more core going out for prospects & picks. |

As per Dan Murphy: Halak and Garland have rejoined the #Canucks, Spencer Martin presumably starts for the #Canucks tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. |

The team was partially fragile because of coaching and management. I think with Bouds there they'll be a bit more solid – as well as having OEL who's a good voice. But ya, I agree they'll take a hit in the room losing him, but a step back to take a couple forward.
DeBrusk won't replace JTM, that part is sort of a trade off for getting out of Poolman, but adding DeBrusk will hopefully let you get rid of Pearson in the middle 6 forward spot. And I don't think Carlo, an big established top 4 RHD at a good cap hit at 25 years old is really dime a dozen.
I'm not jumping at that trade, but I feel it's a good trade that addresses some needs while not just taking on prospects and picks. |

Only in Arizona, would this be allowed.
Just end the misery and move the team. |

Would Halak be willing to waive his NMC for a team like Washington. Apparently they are looking for a quality veteran.
Vincent Iorio or a 2nd/3rd round pick would be a nice return, even if Canucks eat some salary |

One of those 2nd round picks Benning couldn't hit on...

Just to be clear, are you suggesting that Jim Benning was good at his job and the owner made a mistake by terminating him? |

Adding Carlo could be the perfect partner for QH. Somehow you gotta add to the D and this could be a good start. Hearing Rathborn is waiting for chance to play for BB, could that signal some more discontent with Green? |

Don't think it's discontent as much as excitement for a better chance with a better coach. I think he'd excel under Bouds, looking forward to getting him to the team next year or end of this year. |

There's a good article out on The Athletic (!) about Allvin as GM, talking to peers and industry peeps. Gets into a good big of his background and thoughts.
Liked this quote from Rutherford, nice shot at the last regime
“We’ve got to figure out how to get a little cushion on the cap,” Rutherford said, tellingly, while discussing priorities ahead of the trade deadline through his wider angle lens. “It’s always difficult, but being up against the cap as a team that’s not in the playoffs at this point in time isn’t a good thing.” |
