There a reasons why some of these guys are late round picks. Also, someone might look good in the NCAA, but that is a pretty low level development league, imo.

Bright side if translates into an NHLer it’s much cheaper. |

You mentioned some promising forwards in college or Europe, if I am not mistaken those promising forwards are 4th, 5th 6th and 7th round picks. |

Kirill Kaprizov Calder winner. - VANTEL
It's different when it's a league other than the NHL imo, SHL is a development league for NHL prospects. If a guy is 18 vs. 22 putting up 30 goals in the AHL that's a significant difference. With Kaprizov you know he's good because he's doing it at the highest level.
But I see what you're saying. Rookie scoring titles are silly. |

I am pointing out wait and see what Rutherford does first. Your head is so far up his ass you can offer him a second set of eyeballs. I never said a vacant spot is better, I am saying I am not sure JR is a good fit.
His draft record is terrible, he was sinking Pitts in the later years and he has been involved in a cover up. Wait and see how he does with a clean slate but you could be getting a guy who is on the downslope like Holland.

That and pushed to the cap max while struggling to make the playoffs in a weak division. - Marwood
Yeah the cap as well. I didn't want to take the low hanging fruit.
It really comes down to getting value. Benning lost assets, high picks, and spent future cap space while getting almost zero value in return. JR and the new regime have their work cut out because of it. Honestly, I think it's an even bigger shi tstain than the one Gillis left. |

I’m all ears. Who are they? - Nighthawk
As fans we have no idea, we don't get to interview these guys and ask around the league for opinions. But you have to admit, it's a bit convenient that Clancey and Allvin, two guys that worked for JR before just happened to be the best he could find. It seems like familiarity still wins, hence why the Sedins are currently in management too, they wouldn't be hired here if they weren't beloved ex-Canucks. Does Ryan Johnson get hired if he wasn't an ex-Canuck? I'm not sure either. I question if Allvin and Clancey get hired if JR didn't know them beforehand.
I'm not saying that this group will fail, but I think being skeptical and waiting to see how things play out is a fair stance to take.

Yes I did but don’t claim any likely to be a 2C. What I am optimistic about is they should add depth to at least the farm. McDonough has made some big strides. Others are improving at a nice rate. |

Both are messes for sure, not a lot of cap flexibility, future picks traded, and shallow organizational depth. Definitely can't be fixed quickly. |

On Gaudette I thought he was going to be very solid to good as a 3C. Didn’t expect his D to be so horrible. |

18 teams have less than 1 mil in cap space 13 of those teams are over the cap without LTIR. |

Should've been converted to winger, but honestly just seems like a low IQ player. I know Rueby was taking shots at college hockey, but this same fanbase also hyped the poop out of Cole Cassels out of the OHL so it's more of a case of a fanbase that's never experienced a deep prospect pool and gets overly excited when a couple of late round guys are doing good. When you have a deep pool, guys like Karlsson, McDonagh are barely mentioned, yet sadly for us, they're some of the first guys we talk about |

Well idk why you keep referring ti his GM job when he’s the Pres here. Unless you ignore all he has said that he has hired a team to run the team. He will oversee them. Idk Holland was Pres news to me.

And the ones in that group that aren't playoff teams have been horribly managed.
When over half the league is in cap hell, that just makes the teams with cap space have that much more leverage over them in trade talks(assuming their owner isn't penny pinching like Melnyk for example).
That's how you get a Devon Toews for a couple of 2nd rounders |
