Correct. I do not need to work. Big difference.
Dunce. - hello it's me 2050
So you spend you’re an entire life, day after day, from sun rise to sunset on hockeybuzz.com because you admittingly don’t have to work and I’m the dunce? |

1) No state taxes so he'd actually get a raise
2) Eichel, Patches, Stone, Marchassault, Pietrangelo, Reilly Smith, McNabb, Theodore...and the list goes on. Lehner at goal. Add G to that mix and it's an all star team for god's sake.
3) It's Vegas baby - juiced
If Giroux waives and it's a big IF...seriously doubt he waives to go anywhere to a team out West. Bet Pittsburgh is as far west as he will agree to go. Not leaving his family for 2 to 3 mths think he has made clear how being around his family is utmost important to him |

I agree, he isnt cheap for that. But who is? Good physical D....nurse? 9.5, Seth Jones.....9.5. How much do you think a good physical D man costs? So do we settle for an OK physical D for $6? - bradster
Well, Seattle signed Adam Larsson 4 years $4M per, so I think those players are out there. |

Mayhew doesn't seem to need that? Then why is he 29 years old and never been a regular in the NHL? He is a career minor leaguer who has played 27 NHL games in his life.
I'm being kind by even replying to this. - MJL
Its not because Mayhew lacks confidence, its solely because of his abilities or lack thereof. |

You retain salary if it gets you a better deal. - MJL
Of course, but at the deadline G will be only owed $2M and Risto about $1M, that's really not a lot of money. In the end it doesn't matter if the Flyers retain money since its only for this season. |

Did Mayhew miss a full season of hockey as a young player trying to break into the NHL?

FYI Colorado Avalanche only have 6 Players on their team that they drafted:
Makar
Mackinnon
Landeskog
Rantanen
Newhook
Jost
It really comes down to who they draft not when. Rantanen is #10 pick. Other 3 top players were top picks but as I mentioned before the Flyers have had top picks. JVR and NoPa were #2 Picks. Difference is neither of those guys made it even close to the quality of the Top 3 Avs. Lets not forget Couturier and Provorov were picked 7 and 8 in their drafts as well.
Difference is we drafted poorly and we didnt make trades like the Avs did. Even then I dont think they have made it that far in the playoffs despite this |

It's a lot of money to the many teams who have no cap space. A team wanting to take on Giroux at the deadline would need $1,696,375. Look and see how many teams that are contenders that will have that cap space. Now cut that by 50% and see how many teams will have $848,175 if the Flyers retain 50%. Makes a difference. Now do the same thing for Ristolainen.
There are some teams that have some cap space. Other teams currently have LTIR cap space but with players that are going to come off of LTIR. The deadline is a ways away. Other teams could have injuries that are long term. We have to wait and see. If retaining salary gets a better return, then why not do that? Your comment didn't make sense. |

For 2 mths with his kids in school???? Why would he do that.?? He is in total control of where he goes and IF he goes. He is going to do what's best for him and his family and what's best for Flyers is of no concern to him. |

Hmm let me see...
1. If I go to Vegas on Foley's private jet, and win the cup, possible Conn Smythe, I could go to HOF.
2. Or I could stay in the area and not want to change babysitters for my 2.5 year old and my 0.5 year old sons.
That's it. It's #2. Am not changing babysitters.

School? His kid is like 2 lol.
I don’t think think he’s going to refuse to waive. I would be shocked if he did honestly. |

But are they an entertaining team? Are their fans excited to got the watch them play? That’s also a part of this being sports are suppose to be entertaining.
Hedman was drafted in 2009 and Tampa just won a cup 2 seasons ago so these things take time. I would rather have the pieces a team cant trade or sign for as free agents like a #1 defenseman and #1 center already on the roster having to just add depth then to have to acquire those elite talents which the Flyers have to find a way to do. It’s a lot harder of a job. |

Hedman is also 31 years old.
Flyers have Provorov who is still 25 years old and Couturier who has played up to the standard of a #1 C.
There is no such thing as pieces you cant trade for. Any player has a price. NSH got Forsberg for Erat as a FA, NYR got Panarin from FA, Zibanejad for Brassard, Fox for a 2nd round pick. No Organization is perfect. Players are always over valued or misjudged. Flyers need to do a better job of evaluating talent and utilizing their strengths

we can easily take a contract back to make a good deal work. Not sure how many times this needs to be explained
