Back online after the blizzard, 25'' of snow officially in my neighborhood, but at least the power is back on. I watched the Flyers replay and thought overall they played a good game. Nice to see Frost and Ratcliff making some plays and getting some offensive chances. Maybe Cam should be the next captain, given how well he played today? I really had a problem with JVR out there on the ice in the last minute of the game, he really cost the Flyers a regulation win with his horrible indecisive play on the forecheck. Also wondering if the best way to hide Yandle is to play him when the Giroux line is out there, given the best defense is a good offense. Too many times today the Flyers were hemmed into their own end with the combination of Yandle and York and the 4th line out there. |

Yes, extend Yahoo Yoe for a league coach minimum - THE EVIL WITHIN
I will say he is getting through to this team because they are playing with much more structure than any other time this season other than the first week. |

I've always liked Cam Atkinson's demeanor and glad he's on the team. He seems to have great chemistry with Giroux. He's the polar opposite of Voracek and whether or not their attitudes dictated the team's direction - it's nice to see the change.
I truly hope we move Giroux at the TDL for assets and resign him at a very team-friendly deal in the offseason. Never remove the C. I'd like to see Cam and G together for a little longer. It's as if Cam has the type of gumption that G has needed help injecting into this team for a while - just someone on the same page. The losers who question G's passion are misguided.
I actually would also prefer to move forward with Risto.
I'm all for a Hayes buyout - It will hurt and I'm sure he's a great guy but I don't see this getting better injury-wise and this franchise has had the ability to admit when they were wrong and move on ie bryz.
is there a realm where we can have johnny hockey and G next year? and everyone healthy? Sam Morin can wear the Gritty suit? |

Many people don't have an understanding of buyouts. Not to mention that Bryzgalov was a compliance buyout with no cap penalties. Moving forward with Ristolainen would be a major error. I have no idea what some see in the player. |

thats obvious, you criticize him pretty much every day. i Think its because youve never played, you dont understand all his attirbutes. You see the stats, and thats pretty much it. Its similiar why Toronto cant do well in the playoffs. Its something not measured in stats. |

You cant pay RR what he will likely ask for going forward. Cliff is correct in this instance.
Plus like I said before he has been around losing for a decade. This is all he knows. Move on fill his spot via free agency or trade.
Flyers have 4 dman coming back:
Ellis
Ivan
Travis
York
They need to upgrade big time as Ellis cant be counted on. They will not play Zamula and York as that is not the flyers way.
I would like massive changes. Most of these players all they know is losing and seem to accept it. Make Hockey trades since we know they will not rebuild.

Wonder if there are any young guys out there on other teams who haven't lived up to expectations or seem to be stagnating the flyers can take a chance on for the rest of the year? One example Sam Steele though he seem to be settling in with the ducks. Kiefer Bellows type. |

i dont think he is grossly overpaid. $5.5 for a decent D isnt that bad. Look at some of the other contracts for D out there. Id prefer 4.5 but the cap is supposed to start going up again.. I would say $4 for him would be an under payment. I'm not married to keeping him, but if we dont, we need to sign a physical D to replace him. I might be in the minority, but i think he is better than most $3-$4M D men out there. I also think he brings more than just physical, he can play. MAkes mistakes yes, but he can make some plays that a savard or someone cant.

How come Provy gets a free pass for his sub par play this year? Oh right, he needs a better partner. I dont buy that at all. You can say that argument with any D if they had a better partnet they would be better.

I like that some of the kids are getting the chance to play, taking managements choice away and not letting them send them down or severely limit ice time. I hope Ratcliffe can build on his first game. I like Willmans skating but he seems to lack hockey sense. Numerous times their line breaks in and his head is down and he short circuits the play. I think when healthy Allison would be good on that line. Willman on the 4th makes sense. While I think it’s ok Laughton gets 2nd reps, it’s hard to expect TK to really light it up, he needs a top 6 center, not that he was lighting it up prior. Please launch Yandle into the moon |

Where is he getting a free pass? He is under contract. RR is not beyond this year. You are already committed to Ivan. No issues if they move him.
Ivan is head and shoulders better than RR. No comparion imo. Despite Ivan not being a stud. |

I've frankly seen enough! He will fetch a decent package and he seems that he badly needs a change of scenery. While his game yesterday(what I saw of it) wasn't atrocious, just go take a peek at the Kings first goal. Brutal lazy play by him and this happens far too often. |

im not saying from you, but when people complain about RR everyday, and defend our most expensive D man because he has a subpar partner is ludicrous . He is better than RR for sure, but man he sure makes some mistakes that he really shouldnt be. I think htis is what he is. I'm glad we didnt sign him for more money than that.. the blaming the partner is crazy when you see some of his mistakes.

Eh, I think you will be trading low. TK can play better. No excuse but he has played on a dysfunctional team for a good while. This season he has had a hurt Coots and Laughton as a pivot. Tk skates really well, if you don’t have a pivot with speed to play with him, you need a healthy Coots type, he has had neither most of the season. I actually said earlier this season that the Flyers will make a hockey trade, that Tk could be part of the that, I am ok with that but he needs to be playing well when the Flyers pull that trigger

the thing with trading TK, which i wanted to happen last year for Reinhart. People said i was nuts because he is a year older.....whatever
I dont want draft picks. I think its too much of a gamble to replace his skill with a mid/late round pick, id rather a good prospect that projects to 20-25 goals.

shouldve done a TK and frost or sanhiem for Eichel trade. Not sure if we were afraid of his injury, but we shouldve been all over that

The complaining stems from peeps' do not want him resigned and what the cost was to acquire him. Add in he hasnt made the d any better.
No ide what ivans value is or what the perception of him is league wide. He is not the alpha male #1 dman. He is at best the complimentary #1 dman to a legit top pair guy.

Yes watched every minute of every game. If playing well means contributing no points and not hurting your team "too much " is considered playing well we have reached a new low. He played better then previously when he has been invisible but played well?? Geez - hfc355
No, apparently you didn't. You simply quoted a stat line.
He played with a ton of pace, created a few scoring chances, even brought some physicality. That's called playing well, points or no points (especially in a bottom six spot).
Yesterday, Frost started adding some more offensive assertiveness in with it. Nice assist, five shots on goal, a hit or two, blocked a shot. Now he has to continue building off that.
Yeo addressed it directly on Friday: Said that he knows Frost would produce more points ("with all due respect to Gerry and Max") if moved up to the top six, but what he's looking for right now is Frost continuing to keep his feet moving and using his body rather than falling back on his OHL style where he could rely on his hands and ice vision primarily. Said that once Frost committed to habit playing the way he has of late, the skill plays and points would come back in with it and he'd be ready to move up in the lineup.

Why would Bufflalo do that? Where did you see that at or is it just your proposal?
