But actually just the cold temps (like we just had) rather than the ice itself. If you remember the engineers that made the SRBs knew about the cold temps would be an issue with the o-rings and the chief engineer even tried to get the launch scrubbed, but he was overruled by the management of NASA (who were feeling the pressure from the Reagan Admin, who never copped to any share of the blame, but a story for another time)

and I'm not familiar with Hüsker Dü but that's not a bad song.

That album and the one before it, Candy Apple Grey, are great. Been going through their catalog lately, as well as some Bob Mould stuff and Sugar. Hüsker's hard core fans didn't like their later stuff but I wasn't one of them. I just liked them in a casual way. A friend from Minn turned me onto them just before they broke-up, but in retrospect, I wished I appreciated them more at the time.

Also, Pat. You won't believe it. Another scrub tonight (4th time). This time it was a range violation. Apparently a cruise ship entered restricted water and the USCG couldn't get them away fast enough. Should have just sank it and make all those (frank)ers swim back to shore.

And it was a nice night to watch too. Excellent viewing conditions. The sky was burnin' red (I believe my soul's on fire). Hope it's the same tomorrow, cause it's set to go off at the same time.
