That's the point. We talk about team ethic, and drive... Then trade away one of the very few players we have showing it? That's Expos talk. Build a decent player, then trade em out... Players like him, and Gallagher, who give their all, those you keep, THEY build the culture, not the superstars.

Yes, but I think they missed the opportunity to keep him under a good cap structure when instead they signed Armia to a way too big contract.

Pittsburgh died for years and got stupid lucky in the draft, then built their bottom with character players. This isn't a market to die for years, no matter how much sense it makes, especially given draft odds these days.

If tank and win was the key, then Buffalo, Toronto, and Edmonton would be trading Cup wins. But they're not.

And that's the point.

true, but if you give 3.5M to Lek to play on the 4th (like Armia and Byron...) what money do you have left to pay your futur top line?
I wouldn't mind if they keep him, but the #1 objective is to draft talented players. for that you need draft picks.

how long they signed Armia already? This was a bad signing. I don't totally dislike him but he is so inconsistent that he is no more than a 4th liner and they paid him as a 2nd.

yeah, part of the reason why I'm not a fan of tanking is that not only are there no guarantees, but you also risk having a losing culture be instilled across the organization if you keep losing miserably for too long, and everyone then just kind of stops giving a (frank). not pretty.
