There's the thing. Everyone talks about the franchise, Rem spoke what it meant willing into that dressing room with all the history there.
And we're pissing it away.
Yeah, a lot has changed, but real fans remember the attitude, the pride felt to wear that Crest (not capitalized ironically...)
..and "true" fans are ready to trade away those who gave it all (Price, Gallagher, Lehkonen) in the hopes that new shiny draft picks will make it all better.
It won't.
We need the heart and soul players to make a team WORTHY of, "LES GLORIEUX".
We need talent for sure, and it's coming in players like Suzuki and Caufield. We have it in players like Romanov on the back end. If Petry can get his head straight, then he's a great piece, too.
But to have a poop year...(and BOY is it poop...) and be willing to give up on everybody? In the hopes it'll all come together eventually? That's Maple Leafs talk.
We're above that. |

I understand what you're saying 100%, and there should be a certain level of pride and resolve that comes with wearing that jersey, but that doesn't mean you can't add new players to the mix, and have them understand what it entails to play for the habs. Gallagher won't be around forever, so there has to be some younger blood willing to take on the torch, to use a lame opening ceremony at the Bell analogy lol. |

I totally agree... But to trade a player like Gallagher who literally gave his body to the team, earn his first (and likely last, the way he plays...) big contract with the team who gave him a chance, then try to trade him away in an off year? With a team that has a hard time signing free agents on a good day? That's an awful look |

Gallagher has represented the heart and soul of this team for quite some time now, he's definitely one of my favorite habs that I've seen play, and I'd really hate to see him go. that being said, the guy wants to win, and he did mention that he would have to reflect on his future with the team, depending on the new management staff's vision, how they plan to go about this reconstruction, and what role he would play in it. I'd never want to see the guy wear another jersey, but if it means he finally gets to lift the cup, as much as it pains me to say, so be it, he definitely deserves it.

If it could all but guarantee him success, I'd let him go. I'd love to see him as a lifelong Habs player, but to raise the Mug? He's earned it, one way or another... |

(Similar to the bittersweet feeling of seeing Roy lift the Cup in Colorado)
... Hell for Bourque for that matter.... Hated him as a Bruin, but respected his win in Colorado.. Well deserved. |

yeah I gotta admit that Price or Gallagher being traded to COL and winning a cup over there would be a bit of a mind(frank), especially Price since it would be basically repeating a rather painful and poopty part of habs history lol |
