So do you extend long term or trade Lehkonen? He is a pending RFA this summer, making 2.3M, he is 26yrs old

I know the popular answer is to trade the guy, but I'd like to keep him, as you need some vets who can be a good example for younger guys coming in

is he worth more right now on the market than he is to the Habs short-medium term? I don't know...depends what the offers are.

Do you trade Lehkonen and a pick(Habs 2nd) for Vitali Kravtsov? He is 9th overall pick from 2018, 22yrs old, insist on only playing at the NHL level (he is in the KHL right now), signed for 3yrs on entry level deal. He is a 6'3" LW

Elite Prospect:

A big, skilled winger that can play up and down the lineup and provide scoring in a number of roles. He brings grit and physical size, but could be more assertive in throwing his weight around more. Displays excellent speed on the rush and in zone entry, but could backcheck quicker. Plays well in his own end and takes away lanes. Very good hands and awareness. Kravtsov has the potential to develop into a staple top six forward that can produce at the next level. [EP]

I don't know much about Kravtsov, but I think a lot of these potential trades will be dictated by what happens with Price... in a couple of weeks he should then know if he'll be able to play this season, or require another god damn surgery. if he does come back healthy and plays like we know he can, it might change their plans a bit, if they can't trade him.

I hate these descriptions, they always make it sound like the player is an all-star in the making lol

he was drafted 9th overall, he should be a good prospect.

Word is Drury wants a top prospect for him...and nobody is willing to pay the price so far. Guess who drafted him.....

oh and the fact that the guy "insists" on playing in the NHL sounds like a bit of a red flag if you're trying to establish a healthy winning culture.

well well well...

and because of Hughes, we'll also be signing Patrice Bergeron!

agreed but he is 22 now (turned 22 in December 23rd). He should be ready and it is not like MTL is contending, they can be patient with him at the NHL level.

maybe, I think it might be better for MTL to look elsewhere but you surely know more about the kid than I do.

Heard Gorton and the NYR are talking...so that's the name that came to mind.

I don't want to go anywhere either, he is a Bruins and should retire as one when he is ready.

well if the asking price for him is a top prospect then it might not be so interesting for the habs, they'll want to accumulate prospects not trade them away.

I'd do it but I doubt you'll get a 9th overall pick for Lehkonen...

Also don't think the Habs are in a position to trade picks/prospects now...Maybe they could trade Jordan Harris' rights ?

with Hughes' sons playing with Harris this might be a good connection to actually keep him

With all the COVID measures in Canada for the past 2 years, I think it'll be harder and harder to get American players to come here...

yes, but these measures are being lifted, things are eventually going back to something closer to "normal".

bah, it's to be taken with a grain of salt, hence the winky lol, but if it could have an influence in convincing him in any way then good for the habs.

Still, knowing that the government can change its mind at anytime and bring them back would make me careful.
