I hope we trade Miller and free up some cap space so if a player like Miller comes available we can afford him .

Yeah, that would be great. Getting rid of a guy at his peak who will fetch a lot in return and probably decline as his contract ramps up.
And then using freed up cap space to get a guy like him, meaning someone late 20s and not entering his 30s in a couple years when the team will truly compete.
I mean that would be forward thinking. But the Benning model would probably say keep him and go for it! And we all know that Benning is a good hockey man!

First of all I was joking but trading your best player to make room to overpay players like Boeser and Pettersson doesn't excite me if I was being serious.
I like the way the D is finally playing and I think the team lacks scoring so trading Miller and Garland has a lot less appeal to me than it does to others on here.

Despite the feel good story thus far under Bruce Boudreau, the team is still second last in their division and a long shot to make the playoffs. For me it’s about the future not the present, as in get some good young assets for the future who will help the young core that is Demko, Boeser, Hughes and Pettersson.
Just so everyone here knows, I am now accused of sending out messages to rally the Islanders to gang up on poor Lordy. Also anyone that disagrees with Lordy, whether you live in New Brunswick, New York, Chilliwack, Kitimat, Vancouver, Manitoba, Yukon, anywhere in the world you have been lumped into the Islander label and you receive messages from me to attack Lordy…(frank) me “you can’t make this stuff”, oh well “it is what it is”, “keep on trucking”.

He's taken stupidity to the next level. I honestly feel sorry for him.

I don't credit Bruce with the turn around with the D .
I think it is turning because Baumer is gone and Shaw is that much better.
Fix the scoring . If Petey is going to take another two years to turn his game around and Boeser is going to be a passenger then this is going to be as good as we get and moving Miller and Garland is a mistake.
But both looked pretty ok to me (points), so curious what is good?
EDIT You were talking trade..... - WelfareWerewolf
1st up is players for JT then other dominos are easier to fall for picks. I like all of the core but with VGK leading the division & Oil with the big 2 & ever get tending leaves LAK on the rise followed closely by Anaheim makes PO’s a tougher road. Hence retooling has to happen.

You’ll think I’m a dick for this but I don’t think you understand the coaching hierarchy at that level. I’m sure it’s a collective effort, but, make no mistake…the assistant coaches are carrying out the wishes of the head coaches systems. Assistant coaches don’t make up their own systems, everything goes to thru the head coach.
The team is playing better as a five man unit and PP units because of the systems Bruce Boudreau brought in, full stop.
