Are they upset that they are trading players or are they upset that they are trading the wrong players ?

Always fun listening to Canuck fans talk about the right or wrong players. Currently the new coach has had a pretty decent run, using 3 defensemen well over 23 minutes per night, and rotating the top minute-muncher in those games, amongst those 3, yet 2 of those 3 guys are who most fans blame the Canucks for being bad, thoe other one is a defenseman that I have stated I do not like.
So us as fans saying who the right or wrong guy is, is pointless, other than the discussion points it creates.

Well I can say I don't have a problem with the D . When I see 1-0 losses in OT , I don't blame the D. I am not in a hurry to trade Myers or OEL . Definitely not looking to trade
Schenn or Burroughs. If there was one question mark it would be Poolman and I am not even in a hurry to trade him. I would definitely upgrade Hunt.

I would move Pearson ( who is not a terrible contract ) . Dikie has sort of been a bad signing so far. Sign a face puncher in the offseason . No more Chiasson or Baileys.

My big move this offseason would be trade Boeser and go all in at Hertl.

I mean the team is 3-4-3 in their last 10 games so I'd say the decent run ended after the Christmas/covid break.

Demko Miller Bo Garland Halak Pearson out . That is why you need a thirty game stretch to evaluate.

Except they really didn't need to.

I guess but we would have been stuck with LE, Rous and Beags. Garland was the sweet part of the deal. Would like to see the kid stay here see what he's capable of. Bit of a slump right now but he'll bust out of it.

Fair, but Demko/Halak out is meh since Martin played well. Forwards being out definitely hurt though.

All good. We have a 'diversified' MNGT group now. Nothing but bright things ahead.

I posted it the other day, but he's sadly the team's best offensive forward at 5v5 by a decent margin. For a team that struggles to score at 5v5, it seems like a weird move to trade your best 5v5 scorer.

Correct. Not sure why these 'trades' are taking place with almost 40 games left on the schedule. You'd think Rutherford and company would have a little patience to see where things are headed. Sure...if we can fleece some team/GM on a Miller deal pull that trigger. But let's see what we got with a full healthy club before trading everyone but Demko and Hughes...

I thought Martin did his job, I thought the D played well in front of him.

I am okay with moving players , I think the forward group is where the shake up is needed , but not your best valued forward. It will be interesting to see where our top paid forward finishes this year and the soon to be second top paid forward.

I said it for two years now Canucks success depends on their top players ( Petey Boeser and Hughes) and so far two of them have been disappointing.

All three have been disappointing in some regard. Let's just see what we have longer term with them. Do some rounding out and see where it goes. A full healthy squad under Boudreau for more than 12 games is needed for a full long term assessment IMO.

I was on record before the season started stating that the defense wasn't going to be an issue, I am a bit disappointed in Poolman, I thought he would be much better than he has shown.
Schenn is a good 6-7 guy, and yes, Hunt needs to be upgraded. Not sure how Juulsen has looked, but the coach relied on him for 20 minutes last game in a 0-0 situation.
Problem with this team is possession or lack of it, from the forward group.

Without any context, the 5v5 stat is about as useless as PDO, and I guess it is the same as +/-

I provided context yesterday, if anything context helps Garland’s case. Less cheesy secondary assists at 5v5 than the other forwards on the team, also less minutes per game than the other 5v5 point leaders.

Also not sure how 5v5 scoring is as useless as PDO or the same as +/-, it’s easier to be on the ice for a goal than it is to create a goal.

I’d like to see reasoning for dealing him over other forwards on the team

I think Juulsen comparison would be Sautner.

Forwards need to be upgraded . They can use one or two mean guys for the fourth line , and another twenty plus goal guy up top.
