All three have been disappointing in some regard. Let's just see what we have longer term with them. Do some rounding out and see where it goes. A full healthy squad under Boudreau for more than 12 games is needed for a full long term assessment IMO.

I didn't want to upset the Hughes fans

The roster construction as it currently stands, as well as the state of the AHL team is absolute hot garbage. Trotting out a 3rd pair defence of some form of Burroughs, Hunt, Poolman and Schenn (who to be fair has been decent) is freaking laughable. Alex Chiasson has played most games. Justin Dowling has gotten minutes. They have 2 absolute boat anchor contracts in defencemen who on a really good team are a 3rd pair (able to play 2nd pair minutes in a pinch). I’m sorry but that’s not okay for an NHL team who has playoff aspirations (beyond squeaking in and becoming cannon fodder for Colorado or Vegas).I know Canuck fans in general tend to overrate their own players but I’m not sure how fans want this team to improve WITHOUT making some bold moves.

This is true on some levels, the D is not good. We need some big shake up moves and no cap to do them. Thing about having elite goaltending is that weve got a better chance in playoff series than most teams. The forward group needs to produce. We need more production from D not named Hughes. I would like to see them go for youth and picks, hopefully theyve at least called about Tippett and Chychrun.

I provided context yesterday, if anything context helps Garland’s case. Less cheesy secondary assists at 5v5 than the other forwards on the team, also less minutes per game than the other 5v5 point leaders.

Also not sure how 5v5 scoring is as useless as PDO or the same as +/-, it’s easier to be on the ice for a goal than it is to create a goal.

I’d like to see reasoning for dealing him over other forwards on the team

Not as inclined to trade Garland. He's a year younger than Bo, so still fits the range of the team. Good cap hit, lots of control on his contract. If some team is going to overpay, then sure – but if it's just to move on from him, I don't see as much value to that.

Agreed. To me trading arguably your best forward at 5v5 right now who’s turning 26 this year doesn’t make much sense, especially given that he’s locked into a solid contract as well.

If they do move him, I have two theories:

1) They’re getting offered poop for Boeser so in their mind Boeser + Garland trade return > Garland + Boeser trade return

2) Garland has quietly asked for a trade. Check out his Twitter “likes”. He’s not big on covid restrictions so I’d imagine he prefers to play down south.

If you go to the underlined in the bold portion, nobody (of any importance or authority) has said that they want to trade Garland, you can certainly be open to hearing proposals on all players including Bo, Hughes and Demko, doesn't mean they want to trade them.
