Would you offer a package for Laine to play on the RW?! He is an RFA come this summer and the Jackets are said to be possibly moving him. Thoughts?! just curious. - Kevin Francis
Think the price tag would be up there he would probably want 8+million should we really do that we still need to sign Norris and Stutzle 🤷♂️ |

Agreed price tag would be crazy, but great for discussion. Man, could you imagine Laine here with Stutzle or Norris feeding him?!
Tkachuk-Norris-Laine
Formenton-Stutzle-Batherson
Paul-Pinto-C. Brown
That is a top 9 to be reckoned with!

I just don't thnk Fiala is worth 5m, but not a bad option. I guess we will see how this plays out this summer. Giroux wouldn't be a option lol as they say.

Then insert a crazy 4th line of -
Ennis/White/Watson, or Parker Kelly in place of Ennis. Or Kastelic! Then you got Ridly G. coming too, he will need time in the AHL. I truly think Sokolov is a year away after watching him again tonight in Belleville. But when he's ready, like Mann likes to say, overbake him......he will be terrific!

I wouldn't do it. He seems to be problematic or have attitude issues, would cost a fortune in assets and would want top dollar busting any salary structure the Sens would hope to have. Plus I don't think he plays the kind of game the Sens are trying to cultivate. I would say hard pass. |

Fair enough, very good logic and statement. Fun to discuss!

All good my friend. After listening to PM during the 1st intermission, he's staying in Belleville....with homes games Friday against Syracuse and Saturday against Laval. He might be having an extended stay. Do you plan on visiting Belleville lol?!

I disliked Him from the between the boards days where He knew everyone and everything. He's failed at everything He's tried (really) so smelling Eugene's butt got Him a job. And how has He rewarded Him, getting absolutely loaded in Teams Press-Boxes on free booze and found on His hands and knees, the rest you know. |

OTT should not go after Laine, too inconsistent, would cost way to much for so much uncertainty and would he would want to much on his next contract. |

Not saying Laineis the right choice. But at some point the salary structure has to be pushed to uncomfortable limit. |

Yes if the plan is to never make a big upgrade externally then in 5-6 years there may be cap issues. When they come to be real contendees internally. At wich time some contracts may be close to ending and may not return.

Re: Paul I'd like to see Sens keep him, maybe at 3 x3 or 2yrs.
I don't know why more teams don't go to players who are UFAs and say we want to get something for you at trade deadline but we also want to resign you in the summer. |

Norris, Stutzle, Formenton, Zub JBD, Sanderson, Thomson, Pinto, whoever you're going to bring in to fill the top six RW spot and two years from now another goalie. How much do you think that will cost? Then you've got your Paul, Brown, Greig, other bottom six guys and a backup goalie. We'll be losing good players three years from now because we won't have the cap space to keep them. |

The only 1of those likely to command a long term big contract is Stutzle . Its hard to conjure what norris and formention are worth . Batherson money?
They have loads of space after this season. The Sens are in no danger of pushing the cap limit in next 3 years if they are just looking internally. Would likely be a repeat of signing useless ufa to make the cap line. That money would be better spent upgrading 1 or 2 positions . But are in danger of players looking else where if meaning full success is not relevant |

Agreed... hard pass. The big $$$ has to go to Chabot, Tkachuk, Stutzle, Batherson, Norris, and (likely) Sanderson, which will mean adding a $6M-$8M/yr contract in each of the next 3 off-seasons. That establishes your core foundation of #1/2C, #1/2W, and #1/2D, and everyone else is up for discussion in terms of balancing $$$/performance. Brown/Zub/Holden/Paul are fine so long as they remain affordable, but that's also why you drafted Formenton, Pinto, Bernard-Docker, and Thomson. If they need a #2RW, I'd rather see White or Sokolov given a chance to step up vs. rolling a massive pair of dice on Laine. And if they have the money in the short-term for Laine, I'd far rather see them add Giroux for veteran/mentor support... ideally as a UFA, without losing picks/prospects in the process. |

I think many people were surprised by the Batherson contract which is commodity considered to be extremely team friendly. I don't know how realistic it is to expect other players to follow suit. Also you've nonchalantly skipped over quite a few players who will legitimately command sizable contracts. Maybe I just value these players more than you do and/or expect them to be important pieces of what I believe will be a perennial juggernaut for many years to come. |

I doubt any team wants an AHL level defenseman in Brown for the playoffs. Doubt playoff teams with little cap space are looking to add Zaitsev and his contract for the next few years. Mete maybe but for a smaller defenseman he isn't exactly producing much. Really none of these guys should be blocking any younger players if those younger players are NHL ready or need NHL experience.
Your GM needs to step in and take away your coach's favorite toy (Brown) and just waive him so the coach can't use him and force him to play someone better. Brown has no value around the league and no future with your team. - dcz28
Exactly! Brown shouldn't be allowed to play even as a placeholder. Why do other teams rebuilding, play all their young prospects when there are no expectations?! Mete has really taken a few steps back but again, talking to Habs fans, he had a 12 game jolt for Ottawa last year but prior to that he was average at best in MTL which is why he was a healthy scratch. Mete has very little value too. By the trade deadline both of these players either need to be traded, waived or in Belleville. They cant stop JBD or Thomson from getting minutes as both of them have performed so well in the games they have played here, plus have received double the minutes of Mete and Brown. Zaitsev, he will play 5/6 blueline minutes the rest of the year then hopefully he is either bought out or traded!
