So you think Giroux will get less? - psuhockey
Depends on the teams he will accept a trade to and how many. If he is open to all 16 likely get a 1st and a decent prospect. If its 2 or 3 teams likely less |

That's my point then he would have to do it again in Sept if he signs elsewhere. - hfc355
And when he goes back to ottawa every summer, that's a lot of moving. Wait, how can he move to ottawa for a couple months every year, but cant move to win a cup for a couple months? Priorities i guess

Back to Ottawa with family and friends for the summer. No games. No practices. Full family time. Yep that's the same.

Who ever said it was about covid??..Its about being away from his family or having to move them for 2 maybe 3 mths - hfc355
Honestly Covid makes more sense than thinking in 2022 he somehow can’t make playing in a different city for two months work lol |

exactly. if he doesn't want to move for 2 whole months to have a good chance to win the cup, he deserves the name captain comfortable. And i've never called him that before. But.......

And it is more like four months if he wins the cup.

O'Connell is an advisor specifically related to the efforts to beef up the development program. After leaving Boston, he largely oversaw LA's development for years when it was considered one of the most successful in the NHL. Nearing retirement, and came back east to be closer to his grandkids.
Beverley: Yes, another older scout. Has been in the game a long, long time as a player, coach and scout.
Bardsley: Had a good rep and long tenure in Portland - bmeltzer
We can assume with almost 100% certainty that Dean Lombardi talked to Chuck and got his old charge O'Connell on the payroll. |

Stop he is healthy now. sitting him out wont make him unhealthy. There is nothing to evaluate with CC.
trading him sooner also allows him and the team get more acclimated with each other. - hello it's me 2050
it's all about the Flyers maximizing the return on the player, and if that means going down to 3pm on deadline day that is what Fletcher should do. |

Would you be able to just pick up your wife and family and move them for 2 months on short notice?
Wife has no friends or commitments or family considerations? Kids have no friends or family considerations?
All of them just sit at home all day doing nothing waiting for you to get home and tell them what they will be doing?
And don't give me he has all that money so all their regular human feelings and desires have no bearing.
But hey lets move to a strange place where they don't know anyone and live for two months with no guarantee you will make any new friends or commitments because you may be gone again in two months.
Comon. - MBFlyerfan
not easy even if you have the resources G has. i assume during playoffs players are more disconnected from their family, even when at home.
To me here is the thing, I think it is more about G deciding he wants to chase the cup. He will start there and discuss with his wife. Once he makes that decision I think he will be open to the right team, like the AVS. Maybe we should ask it this way. if G decides to chase the cup, would his wife really stand in his way or let the family stand in his way? 2 months to chase his dream? |

Flyers have no choice but to give G his desired location. He will be the one telling them which team or teams he will accept a trade to IF ANY - hfc355
if this going to be worth it for the Flyers, G needs to give the Flyers a list of several teams he is willing to go to. |

He will move. Fair or unfair, if he decides not to waive, that will be the career summary. |

Maybe....how many teams make a big move at the deadline? 5? 6? id say half of those want a D man. So then its shorting the options for G and Pavelski. Maybe throw JT miller in the mix as well. Just saying the deadline is a long way away, lots can happen. The best thing for the flyers is those other teams keep winning to stay in the hunt. - bradster
5 contending teams from each conference, so I think there will be demand as long as G will go to them |

I literally wrote that the “B” asset can be upgraded to an “A” with a cap dump. I wrote on the post you just quoted as well as two other times in this thread. Lehtera was a worthless capdump that St Louis were thinking about buying out. There was a price to take him and that price was taking the “B” asset in the deal and upgrading it to an “A”. That’s why it was two first round picks. - psuhockey
Again, changing the premise. You posted that all of the deals for the players you listed was the same and it would be the same for Giroux. Those deals were not all the same. As I stated earlier. Some were for 2 assets, some for 3 and some for 4 assets. Maybe in your world it's the same but they were all clearly different from each other.
Here is the bottom line. You replied to a post I made calling it BS. You were wrong and that's okay.

A good chance to win is 1 in 16....that's not very good odds. He can just as easily give himself a good shot at a cup by signing a 3yr 3M per contract over summer with the top team of his choice . It has nothing to do with comfort if he doesn't waive it's a family personal decision. You know he also has a 6mth old at home along with 3 yr old. Quite honestly there is very little for him to gain by waiving his NTC . |

Im not suggesting he wont go because of his family. I was merely stating that its not so easy to pick up your family to do it. In the end I don't think it prevents him from going anywhere. I believe either his family stays in Philly or goes home to Ottawa. To me they are two separate issues.

It would be one thing if this was his final yr but he has another 3 to 5 yrs to chase the cup by signing a team friendly deal over summer with a top tier team |

So you consider a cap dump an asset? Was Lehtera an asset in the Brayden Schenn trade? How about an expiring contract or minor league contract that gets a team under 50? Is that an asset? |

Your hockey knowledge is way above his. He looked up all these details after you posted and was unprepared for even further details quickly provided.
Having a floating variable that can take on different values depending on context without violating the basic equation you posted is way, way,way above his head.
Reading posting details, such as being cognizant of something said only 3 times, is not above his head. But he won't. The Internet has no punishment for ceaseless decades-long brain-dead anonymous-arguing to substitute for substance. Just like sports has no real alternative for tanking being the surest way for success. It spawns guys like him.
So, treat him like every sensible poster has done for the past many, many years. And don't get frustrated, and speaking for myself, please continue to post.
