We can assume with almost 100% certainty that Dean Lombardi talked to Chuck and got his old charge O'Connell on the payroll.

I didn't understand any of that talk. Why couldn't he take his family with him for 2 months.
- bradster

Maybe because his family's life doesnt revolve around him?

His Kids are approx 1 years old and 6 months old. Its a little different taking them to an all star game than to a whole other city for a few months. When Giroux is dealt he is going to be in a hotel for months, not the ideal place for children of that age.

There are likely other factors involved as well that have to do with his wife.

It is not likely they are just going to pick up and leave when traded. Is he coming back next year? If not they have to sell the place they are staying at, find out where Giroux is going in the future and find a new place to live. You have to remember when you buy a new place you dont move in immediately. It can take up to 6 months after purchase to move into a home.

Giroux could take his family with him, it is a possibility however there are lots of reason why they would stay in Philadelphia for a while

So you consider a cap dump an asset? Was Lehtera an asset in the Brayden Schenn trade? How about an expiring contract or minor league contract that gets a team under 50? Is that an asset?
- psuhockey

Any player, draft pick and cap space is an asset.

Your hockey knowledge is way above his. He looked up all these details after you posted and was unprepared for even further details quickly provided.

Having a floating variable that can take on different values depending on context without violating the basic equation you posted is way, way,way above his head.

Reading posting details, such as being cognizant of something said only 3 times, is not above his head. But he won't. The Internet has no punishment for ceaseless decades-long brain-dead anonymous-arguing to substitute for substance. Just like sports has no real alternative for tanking being the surest way for success. It spawns guys like him.

So, treat him like every sensible poster has done for the past many, many years. And don't get frustrated, and speaking for myself, please continue to post.

You continually violate the code of conduct by posting about people instead of about hockey.

I especially like the spin of "floating variable that can take on different values depending on context without violating the basic equation you posted"

That's a clever way of trying to provide cover for your compatriot, who was obviously wrong.

Giroux has the money to rent a house or a luxury multiple room apartment that would be more than suitable. It's just a question of what he would want to do concerning his family.

I saw that. Haha. I knew this would set some people off in here haha.

Apparently he’s not despised as much by others in the nhl as he is here.

You can be against your team taking a certain path in team development and not turn your back on the team. I'm against tanking but that doesn't mean I would no longer be a fan of the team.

So if the Flyers this off season, go out and are aggressive in free agency, re-sign Ristolainen. Trade youth for more proven vets and make it to the Cup finals, are you out if they do? Because they didn't follow the path that you wanted them to take? If you say you are, well you know what you are full of.

- MJL

All of this! I cheer for the heat possibility for this team. This season, at this point, I'd prefer a top 5 pick. We obviously need it badly.
Play the kids, see what we have, and prepare for the deadline and off season.
Unfortunately, this season is already done as far as playoff hopes go

I feel bad for his team. No leadership. Locker room will be a disaster.

These are the guys they added earlier this season:

Mike O'Connell: the guy who traded Jumbo to the Sharks, lol. He's another "Senior Advisor", lol. Age 66.

Nick Beverley: not much to say about him... worked for the Preds as a pro scout. He's gonna continue to do that here. Age 74.

Matt Bardsley: worked for the Portland Winterhawks as a scout and AGM. Maybe had a hand in them unearthing dudes like RyJo, Dubinsky in later rounds of the bantam draft. He's gonna be an amateur scout here. Ridiculously punchable face. Age 50.

A couple of other guys got promoted internally.

So overall nothing really exciting. Just more dinosaurs to add to our little Jurassic Park.

Kinda pathetic and disgusting to ridicule someone for their age, gender or race. Thought we were better than that here.

He's not ridiculing them for their age. His issue is that he doesn't want "old school" hockey guys. He would prefer modern day up and coming younger guys that are more on the cutting edge of the sport. So would I.

G was named captain for his team at the all-star game and people around here aren’t happy for him? That says more about you boys, than anything else. In my opinion Giroux has been disrespected his entire career. No Olympic appears in his prime as a top play in his prime. No Hart nomination the season he got 102 points a couple years ago. Guy finally gets some respect and some of you poop on him anyway.

That’s a lovely spin, but the prob is he actually pointed out their ages after each sentence. It’s pathetic. League has had enough issues with crap recently and don’t really need it here.

It's not a spin. I know his posting and his opinions better than you do. You're completely wrong about what his motives are. He points out their age for the factors that I laid out in my previous post.
