But what are the odds? The same source then names one trade example that happened as a reason why the Flyers can make a trade now rather than having to wait until closer to the deadline. Yet if you name one example of a player drafted later that turned out to be a stud. Odds! Probabilities!

If his job was truly in jeopardy and he made those off-season moves to keep it then wouldn’t he have been fired by now.

My personal opinion is he should been clipped w AV, but if there is one thing we know now is his job status did not motivate the moves. He thought those moves could get them over the top. That’s his job.

Obviously, that has not worked and he deserves to be accountable for that along with his predecessor, but it appears to me his leash is or was far longer than we thought.

I think it’s safe to assume that the clock is ticking on Fletcher. If we start next year like this year has gone and Fletcher has just rolled back with his aggressive retool this upcoming summer then he won’t survive.

Hart is having a strong season, while not having any help around him. That is the positive from this year.

There are a few other positives:

Lindblom is healthy and starting to look more and more like his old self

Farabee looks to be a legit top 6 wing

Albeit a small sample size, York looks like he’s going to be a good top 4 Dman

Frost is starting to show flashes of the player he can be, hopefully they will move him onto a line with actual NHL players asap.

Actually I think this reply and your previous reply is a tell tale sign of cognitive dissonance and not an argument. You've lost the argument, which is why you went in that direction.

We got JVR and Patrick w 2 number 2 picks in the draft…. Those are can’t miss picks and we missed. Can you fault folks for not being all that excited about the prospect of a high pick? Don’t care who the GM is.

I can’t root for my team to lose. Now if they sell off for good assets and thus they lose so be it, but I can’t see a fire sale for a while here.

Thinking - I wish they lost after winning an exciting game is not in my dna and not gonna change the overall direction of the team anyway.

- Joe Nardone

I wouldn't say we missed with JVR. Just wasn't a good draft.

That’s pretty much what the next 40 games are about. What positives can this team generate. There should be lots of opportunities for some guys to get a look, that in a competitive season wouldn’t happen.

Guys played for how many years ? It wasn’t Patrick Kane, but JVR has had a long successful career. Unfortunately for the Flyers he is at the point where his salary far out weighs his production.

Do you put any stock in how players accumulate their points? Do they produce against good teams as compared to low end teams.

It was a fun game to watch for the most part. Only saw the second and most of the third period, but it was nice to see most of the players engaged. Risto was knocking dudes over like bowling pins all night, and Laughton and TK were physical too. Looks like Ratcliffe can at least skate at the NHL level.
- Phillywhiteout

My question is, why hasn’t Ratcliffe been called up sooner aside from his injuries? The guy looks like he could be a legitimate fourth liner and maybe he can be used on the second unit as a net front presence. There has been nothing soft about his game so far and he skates well as a big kid. He also didn’t look out of place for one shift next to Giroux. He’s shooting and getting to the net.

There are odds and probabilities in everything. I'm not surprised that you're not sure. Doesn't fit your narrative.

Sure, but there are at least two teams involved in a trade. If they're not ready because their cap situation is not clear. They could sustain a serious injury between now and the deadline that could change their need and the assets they have available. You are incorrect that his value is already established. A team will be looking for a return. That return could increase or diminish depending on how the market develops. Where have I stated that he will get more?

You're pulling a PT21 and changing the scope. I know I'm right. Yet you called it BS.

- MJL

There are not odds and probability in a sale. There’s the market and nothing else. Giroux’s price is baked in and he gets to pick where he goes. Waiting does not open up more teams. Waiting does open up more capspace but the Flyers can just take a cap dump to expedite the process. Fletcher won’t but he can.

I am not changing the subject just rejecting the myths surrounding hockey that GMs put forth such as the price goes up around the deadline. More than likely the price goes down at the deadline. Countless writers have stated as such. Teams ask for the moon to see if anyone is desperate enough to make a deal earlier. My contention is why play these games? Giroux with return an “A” asset, a “B” asset and something else because that’s been the standard deal for any high profile player at the deadline or in the offseason. Fletcher should upgrade the deal by taking a cap dump now which would wipe out any reason to wait. The cap is the only legitimate reason to wait in the case of Giroux.

I wish the organization would realize this. Step one would be to sit Yandle and get Zamula into the lineup. Followed by:
Shop and trade Jones and see what Sandstrom can do
Put Frost on a line with legit NHL players
and
Move Ratcliffe to L3 and see what the kid has

Kind of silly to start guessing next season’s forward lineup until we see what they do at the deadline and in the offseason

He has been fairly banged up and his production has been almost non existent. But this kid scored 50 in the OHL a few years ago. That’s no easy feat. Guys develop at different rates. Hopefully Ratciffe is just scratching the surface.

free agent to be having a career year. Smells of a Fletcher special offer.
