You're right, you don't have any inside information so why do you keep stating that the price isn't changing as if it is a fact?

You stated earlier that Giroux will be traded for an "A" asset and a "B" asset. Now here you state that with those players, it will all be the same return

Stone was traded to Vegas along with a prospect for a Vegas roster player, a prospect and a 2nd round pick.

O'Reilly was traded for 2 players, a first and a second round pick.

Brayden Schenn was traded for Lehtera and two first round picks.

Pacioretty was traded for Tatar, Suzuki and a second round pick

Buffalo received a goalie prospect and a first rounder from Florida

Only one of the names you mentioned fits your assessment of what the return will be. Seems as though you don't have the facts.

- MJL

only you deal in facts Cliff. How many of those deals where deadline deals?

I didn't understand any of that talk. Why couldn't he take his family with him for 2 months.
- bradster

I didn't get it either but my question is "Why would he take his family with him for 2 months?" Imho it'd be a giant, unnecessary disruption and pain in the neck for all concerned.

Seriously. Someone was trying to say cause his kid is in school. His kid is 3 lol. I think they’re teaching the same basic shapes and colors everywhere

Giroux’s got his kid on the plane to the all star game so all of that talk about refusing to move his kid during Covid goes out the window now I think.
- hereticpride

good hope he stays in Vegas and a trade happens.

From your post

"Mark Stone, Ryan Oreilly, Brayden Schenn, Pacioretty, Reinhardt. It’s all been the same return."

They weren't for the same return. They were all different. As an example, Schenn is the only deal there that included two first round picks.

- MJL

I literally wrote that the “B” asset can be upgraded to an “A” with a cap dump. I wrote on the post you just quoted as well as two other times in this thread. Lehtera was a worthless capdump that St Louis were thinking about buying out. There was a price to take him and that price was taking the “B” asset in the deal and upgrading it to an “A”. That’s why it was two first round picks.

Would you be able to just pick up your wife and family and move them for 2 months on short notice?

Wife has no friends or commitments or family considerations? Kids have no friends or family considerations?

All of them just sit at home all day doing nothing waiting for you to get home and tell them what they will be doing?

And don't give me he has all that money so all their regular human feelings and desires have no bearing.

But hey lets move to a strange place where they don't know anyone and live for two months with no guarantee you will make any new friends or commitments because you may be gone again in two months.

i think it does matter what other teams do. G will be sought after, but if dallas is a seller, pavelski will also be highly sought after. That will absolutely impact G

G's meals are always hot when he comes home from the game and his slippers are always by the couch with the business section of the newspaper out, or the wife gets what's coming to her.

I understand this perspective but it’s also a little different for folks like this. The wife and kids can go back and forth between wherever he lands (most likely east coast, will make that traveling incredibly easier). His kids are not in school yet either. I don’t see it as that big of an issue, especially since the second half of the season is so condensed.

So I stated the trade will be for an “A” asset which is a 1st round pick or good prospect, and “B” asset which is a 2nd round pick or second level prospect, and something else. I also said the “B” asset could be upgraded to an “A” asset with a salary dump. That’s verbatim of what I said

Stone was traded for Erik Brannstrom, and 2nd round pick and Oscar Lindberg. Brannstrom was a former 1st round pick at 15th overall and was at the time considered a very good prospect. There’s the “A” asset. A 2nd round pick. That’s the “B” asset. And Oscar Lindberg who was a 27 year old bottom of the roster throw in. There’s the something else.

Oreilly was traded for a 1st rd pick “A” asset, Tage Thompson, a former 1st rd pick who struggled his post draft years (“B” asset) and two cap dumps. Even if you consider Thompson an “A” which no one considered him a good prospect at the time the two cap dumps make up the difference.

Brayden Schenn was moved for two “A” assets and a cap dump. So the “B” asset was upgraded to an “A” when Hextall took Lehtera.

Pacioretty was traded for Suzuki, a good prospect “A” asset, a 2nd rd pick “B” asset and Tatar who at that point of his career was something else bottom of the roster player.

Buffalo go a 1st round pick “A” and a 2nd level goaltender prospect “B” asset. They didn’t receive a something else so you got me there.

How exactly do those trades not fit what I said?

- psuhockey

They werent deadline deals. They were actual trades of guys with term left for the most part not 6 week rentals. Apples to oranges

Plus a hummer to boot....

CC probably has friends on many teams that him and his wife know is my guess.

So to not always dwell on the negative, my 3 big positives this season so far are:

1. Carter Hart - he is clearly a top goalie in his league
2. Cam York - he clearly belongs and will only get better once he gets away from Yandle
3. Oscar Lindblom - he may not be a top line player, but he is showing he will be a solid player in the top 9.

That's my point then he would have to do it again in Sept if he signs elsewhere.
