he's under enough pressure in NYR, doesn't sound like such a great idea.

Nope

People here are going to have some ridiculous expectations on Lafrenière, and even if he meets them, they will still be on his case about everything.

I mean it could be a decent option depending on how they evaluate guys like Wright and Cooley, but I think the rags would rather keep Lafrenière.

that's exactly that. the question Hughes and Gorton are asking themselves is, if we have one pick, do we take Lafrenière or Wright?

that's an entirely different scenario. we've already seen that Lafrenière is taking some time getting used to the NHL level (which is perfectly normal), but adding more pressure currently doesn't seem like an ideal thing to do, whereas if the habs drafted him he would've been exposed to that from the get-go. not sure what the results would have been, we'll never know.

The question should be: would you pick Lafreniere over Wright, or even any of the top 3-5 picks in this year's draft?

I guess in this particular case I would stick with the pick. and they might opt for another guy than Wright.

Of course not

...but I don't think I'd break the bank to acquire Lafrenière now.

he would not be breaking the bank, this is a similar deal as the Drouin-Sergachev one. two top10 traded for one another, because at the time MB and Timmins thought if they had one pick, between the 2 they would take Drouin. we all know that was a bad deicsion, but that was MB and Timmins. lets hope the new management duo has a better nose lol

Lafreniere FOR Petry, Toffoli, 1st in 2022 (top 5 protected, or 2023), and Caufield, with MTL retaining 50% salary?

just had to share this gem from the main thread, couldn't help myself.
