Well he is the MVP, what's that worth? A car? Guess he can sell it and consider that a check.
Just so ridiculous.

Other than the Avs and Panthers it sure looks like all the teams gearing up for the playoffs are roughly in the same pack with ‘Goals For’ numbers. Could set up for a nice bidding war over Giroux, depending on what teams he’s open to.

Most intriguing seem to be the Rags and Caps as they both have an extra 2nd round pick this year. (None of the playoff bound teams have any extra 1st’s nor do they own any non playoff team 1st’s this year fwiw)

Defensively Pens and Caps are giving up quite a few goals. Possible landing spots for RR?

RR would only make that worse though

I could never understand the distaste for G. He's been a top player since he was drafted. No, he's not Crosby, but still a hall of fame player.

Flyers Hall Of Fame, absolutely.

I don't think he will get in to the HHOF. Certainly not on the first try. If he wins The Cup before hanging them up, it would help him a lot.

Love G, hope he wins it all. Today was a good start!

I think the answer lies in the fact that the team has not really been competitive during his tenure as captain. People are frustrated with the last 10 years of Flyers hockey and he catches a lot of the shrapnel unfortunately. Not sure he is a hall of famer though to be honest.

He’s not and that’s totally fine. I kind of felt like the front office expected him to be tho and that was their biggest fault. Think about it, even Crosby and Ovi had Malkin and the wildly underrated Backstrom. We never got Giroux that kind of help. Nothing even close to it really. And that’s on top of pretty persistent defensive and goaltending issues we’ve dealt with his entire career here.

Had they actually committed to a rebuild around G earlier on he’d probably be leading a pretty decent team towards the playoffs right now. Franchise is so terrified of being bad that they’re doomed to be forever mediocre. I feel like I’ve been saying that for ages now.

Agree completely. They had some good complementary pieces, but never knew how to seal the deal. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Fletcher isn't the guy to do it, regardless of managements financial commitment.

I don’t care for wrestling, but if you’ve never heard comedian Dan Soder do his Randy Savage impression, I suggest anyone google/YouTube it. He has it nailed down, and it slays me. It’s not just the excited Randy, either. He’s got the whole build up down pat.

Does a decent Andre, too.

Edit - found a quickie of it

Lots of Randy Savage stories out there. The real life Randy Savage wasn't much different from the wrestling character.

Why would any team who gives up quite a few goals be interested in a defenseman who bleeds scoring chances and goals against?

So it looks like the flyers farm system is well stocked with bottom line hopefuls.

If I actually listened to or believed half the opinions on this board, Giroux would still be playing wing because he’s better there and doesn’t have the legs to play center.

Because he was coming off a 36 goal season and our best left wingers at the time were Michael Raffl and prospect Oskar Lindblom.

I hate to say this now, but Giroux succeeds when there is no checking. Look at the last time he dominated in the playoffs. It was the 2012 series against the Pens when they just tried to outscore the Flyers. There was no checking in that series with the exception of the cheap shots. When teams bear down defensively he disappears. Sorry, but reality is reality. He is a very gifted player, but physically he just can't cut it. Thanks! And he is not a HOFer.
