How do the Rangers have 35M in deadline cap space if they only have 7M in real cap space?

The best way I can describe projected deadline cap space: imagine you have a cellphone plan with 100 minutes p/month, but they roll over.
If you only burn 80 minutes each month from Jan to Nov? Then you're free to use a whopping 320 minutes in Dec.
That's what #NYR have done.

On Laf and Kakko being underwhelming so far. There's some talk in the twittersphere about our ability to develop forwards. Kreider will be the first forward who we drafted to score 60+ points for us in I believe 3 decades. I could be wrong on that |

really if we are winning, their stats don't really matter
management should not base their development comparing the stats of 1st and 2nd overall picks of the past
this is just an internet thing

well for a decent portion of those 3 decades we weren't winning. I agree, winning is winning. But a large part of our future depends on the young forwards in our system and in the current lineup developing. The reason we are searching for a top 6 forwad right now is because Kakko and Laf are not that for us at the moment when we thought they would be. Kravtsov was part of the consideration of trading Buch i am sure. Chytil has done nothing. |

it remains to be seen what the Rangers are actually looking to acquire
in reality, the Rangers supposedly looking for a top 6 addition is something internet created until they actually do it

ok well we definitely have a hole in the top 6 where kakko was supposed to be producing and where Laf currently is (hopefully the last 2 games are a sign of things to come but he has 3 assists in 45 games this year) |

This is why Im very firm on a full gut and redo of the 3rd line as a top priority, along with a veteran 3LD. I can guarantee if we grabbed Copp and Jarnkrok (or Lehkonen although I dont like the price set currently on him), LAF, and that line, would be producing so much more. |

Imagine the Rangers play middle man, eat tons of cap for teams while absorbing a ton of 2nd and 3rd round picks? Then flipping them for stuff we need? We wouldnt have to give up anything. It was mentioned and now it hit me as a potentially genius move. |

You’re welcome glad you’re coming around.
Not only do I hope they do this, I think it would be a shame not to and waste a once in forever opportunity. |

Why not?
Avs have been linked to Giroux. If the Avs decided to give us a 1st round pick to absorb 50% on Giroux you wouldnt take it? |

How many more ways can you share that you think they need to gut the third line, sign Copp, Jarnkrok and a third pairing dman? We need to know. |

They have an issue developing 18-20 year olds forwards Brendl, lundmark, malholtra, Kakko, Laf, Howden. Howden happens to be playing well now.
The only one they did well with was anisomov. Young guys who came from ahl or college tbey developed well. Kreider, Dubi, mcd, stepan, zucc just some examples.
They have a lot of eyes on them now bc Laf and Kakko were deems can’t miss prospects. Rangers haven’t drafted a super star forward since Amonte. They need to get these two right. |
